Catfish. I have not looked at the Ada field. Here is an unscientific but reasonable test. Look at the drilling and production unit applications for the HA zone that are as close as possible to the west in townships 18N. In the applications there will be reference made to a well which is used to define the depth of the HA zone in that unit. Using that approximate depth, look through the wells in the Ada Field. This can be accomplished in short order on SONRIS. The wells could be Gray Sand or some name other than Haynesville. The depth is the important factor. Whether productive wells exist at the appropriate depth or not, you can determine if wells in the field have penetrated the HA zone. If those wells were drilled after the late 1970's, the logs would indicate the presence of shale. I'll be interested to hear what you find. Good Luck.
I only found 1 well drilled below12,000 ft a couple deeper than 11,000. The closest HA wells I found were drilled from 11,362 to 12,030. Serial # for the deepest well is 222112 it was driiled to 12,293 ft. as a hosston. May not be enough out there for a conclusion on the Ada field.
Catfish. #222112 was drilled to 8,926'. Not deep enough. It was permitted deeper but not drilled deeper. What you are looking for is a well drilled deeper even it was plugged back and produced from a shallower zone such as the Hoss or CV. Production is from the depth shown for the perforations. Any well drilled to the appropriate depth was most likely logged to that depth as operators do not generally go to the expense without testing.
Thanks for straighten me out!
Skip, thanks for the info!
Catfish. As you have the time, look in each direction from the Ada Field until you find a well or wells that fit the profile. I believe that they do exist but obviously not in the Ada Field.
I see 19- 16 highlighted we havent had no Unit order that I know of.....Do you have any info ?...Sec 17
19N - 16W HA drilling and production units: Section 1 & 21 to Matador, Sections 29,31,32 to Comstock and Sections 2-4 & 9-16 to Samson Contour.
Skip, I have property in RR parish T14n R9w Sec 10&11 any news in this area. J&W sure wont tell you anythng.
Tim. Your township has sections unitized to five different operators. Sect. 4 to Empressa, Sect. 5 to Will Drill, Sects. 6,7,17-20 to Forest, 30-32, 35, 36 to Samson Contour and 8, 26-28,33,34 to Encana. No J-W units.
Hello Skip,

I'm in Central Texas and am not up to date with the recent activity on land parcels I own. I've recieved notice that Samson Contour Energy E&P, LLC intends to create 16 additional drilling and production units in the Haynesville Zone, Reservoir A. This includes my property in Section 13, T 19 N, R 16 W.

Is this an encouraging sign of things to come?
Hello, Teddford. To date the HS wells in 19N -16W have been a disappointment. You can read much of what happened and the comments on the North Caddo Group page. In a nutshell, the first 4 or 5 wells completed in that general area had IP (Initial Production) that was quite low for HS wells. There are a number of additional wells in the township that are waiting on completion while the operators try to figure out the means to address the low permeability of the shale in north Caddo Parish. Unless some different completion profiles make for significantly improved production, activity will decline as operators concentrate in areas with better petrophysics. There is good shale thickness in north Caddo and in years to come some operator will figure out the secret to producing it. Higher prices for natural gas wouldn't hurt either. At current prices, development concentrates more in the core of the play.

The Lithium Connection to Shale Drilling

Shale drilling and lithium extraction are seemingly distinct activities, but there is a growing connection between the two as the world moves towards cleaner energy solutions. While shale drilling primarily targets…
