Venture Global has started LNG production at the company’s 20-million tonne/year (tpy) Plaquemines LNG plant in Port Sulphur, La., in Plaquemines Parish.
Production start comes 30 months after the company’s May 2022 final investment decision (FID) to proceed with Plaquemines LNG’s first phase (OGJ Online, May 25, 2022). FID on the second phase was made in March 2023 (OGJ Online, Mar. 14, 2023).

Plaquemines will produce and export LNG while continuing construction and commissioning of the remainder of the project’s 36 trains and associated infrastructure, the company said in a release Dec. 16.
