Just rode by , EOG/Brunswick rig gone.  Petroquest rig up and working , lots of noise.

Figure that EOG is evaluating the info that they acquired in the Brunswick wells - at the least a full open hole log suite and samples / drill cuttings. But knowing EOG, they got some core of the target section (sidewalls and/or whole core).

No sense leaving rig on location while they evaluate the data - no cost effective approach

Sign at Petroquest site read, Nabors X03. Rig appeared quite large from what I’m familiar seeing in the field. It is west of Morganza spillway locks just off the highway headed to Old River Landing for those familiar with the area.  Not very far from EOG-Brunswick site as the crow flies.

Thinking that this is one of Nabors X800 series of rigs - this unit should be able to drill any type of well (including long deep laterals) that operators needs.

Yes RM, that’s exactly what it looks like, the X800. My pic from far so doesn’t do it justice.  But seeing it in person I’m certain that’s it.

Would this be the type of rig you would use to explore under the spillway from outside the levees?

Rigs like this are designed to drill long laterals - 10,000' + potential.

Similar rigs have drilled almost 20,000' laterals in the Permian / no reason this cannot be done here (barring subsurface mechanical issues and geohazards)

I don’t know the distance across the spillway but it would seem 20,000 would get the job done.

20,000' laterals are pushing it / it is not some much the drilling of the lateral but is a bit difficult to get casing well set and cemented that far out as well as drilling out frac plugs and related work once the stimulation job is completed.

And of course costs will be much higher at those lengths.

They will just drill within the spillway
