what do you think about the area south of shongaloo about midway from minden, i guess about 5-6 miles south of cottan valley field ?

Mr. Sanders....in your expert opinion do you think the shale is present in extreme North Bossier 3 to 4 miles from the ARk. line? Would any past siesmic data show this or only well logs? Or is it gonna take drilling to know for sure? I know we have good CV and even Smackover zones around here! I would appreciate your reply...Thanks

Excited Bossier, don't know if I responded to your inquiry or not, if so this is redundant but perhaps bears repeating. I would not say this is an expert opinion, but I do have good basis for my opinions.

Seismic data, old or new, provides information regarding geologic structure. Therefore it only serves to identify favorable areas to drill based on geologic structure. There must be some structural traps to contain or trap the oil. To determine if oil or gas is present drilling ands testing is required.

If land is HBP why should O&G companies be in hurry to drill it? They can be exploring and developing new areas to protect those leases first before primary lease terms expire. That is situation I am in. Hope this helps a bit.

Yes, lots of activity in Cotton Valley field. XTO is biggest player. But, all wells I know about are Gray Sand or Smackover wells. May be some HAYNESVILLE SAND wells.

I am a landowner, T21 and T20, who has been approached by BroadOak Energy out of Dallas. I was first approached on 10/06 and told of the interest in CV gas play of a depth of 9500. The terms were laughable and they only wanted to lease 40 acres. They reappeared at my doorstep this past March. They told me they now would lease 80 acres. The royalty was up to 25% and they once again refused the opportunity to lease the entire tract. They told me 80 acres were "in a CV field." They told me a well would be drilled "in a few weeks" about one mile west of the southern 80 acres of my tract. My tract is off the Lewisville Rd just south of Leton. I have yet to hear back from them. Anyone know of this activity? They refused to lease my whole tract which I insist on. I have poured money in timber these past few years and will settle for nothing but a full lease.

Saw a pick up truck with, if I remember correctly, badgger drilling with Ok. lic. plates, stop in front of me and take a photo of the land west of Louisville at black bayou just nort of Pistol Thomas. This was in the early sping and thought it courious. This was before all the Haynesville hype. They wasted no time in pulling out in front of me and would not let me pass. Passed them in Minden and got the emblem on the side. Looks like it was something after all.

You are the second person to tell me this. This is my tract and I was approached again for a supposed lease on acerage on the west side southern end away from this area. It was touted as Cotton Valley/Smackover. This contact with the landman was in March. BroadOak out of Dallas. Thanks for the info. I am telling you, we just need to wait.

Sunny, I have property very close to you, south of Leton in T21. I leased to BroadOak last year (pre-Haynesville activity). I spoke with a geologist at their office in Dallas this summer. He said, on the one hand, that they don't think there is Haynesville potential this far north. But, he also said that they are trying to work a joint venture with one of the big boys to drill in the area. Time will tell.

DENVER and HOUSTON, Aug. 5 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- DCP Midstream Partners, LP (NYSE: DPM - News), or DCP, and M2 Midstream LLC, or Momentum, today announced they have signed an agreement to pursue development of a new large diameter natural gas pipeline to move gas from the emerging Haynesville Shale play in North Louisiana. As an extension of DCP's Pelico Intrastate Pipeline, the new pipeline, named the Haynesville Connector, would originate in western DeSoto Parish and extend over 150 miles to Delhi, La., providing access to takeaway pipelines in the Delhi area such as the Southeast Supply Header (SESH), Columbia Gulf Transmission, ANR Pipeline, Trunkline Gas Company, Texas Gas Transmission, Tennessee Gas, Centerpoint Energy and Gulf South Pipeline. If built, the Haynesville Connector is expected to commence initial deliveries in the third quarter of 2009 and would offer an estimated 1.5 billion cubic feet per day of takeaway capacity by early 2010 to help meet producers' anticipated needs for pipeline infrastructure in the Haynesville Shale.
