Reading well data on Sonris, I've noticed that some wells have a production casing of 4&1/2 inches; and others have 5&1/2 inches. With the well depths being very close (give or take 500 feet), why the difference in casing. Anyone have an answer? Thanks in advance.

I heard that Chesapeake has bought all the 5 1/2 up for the next year or so. Could be why others are using smaller pipes sizes. Just a rumor.
Jim Krow... can you tell me why some wells are using 7" casing? ? Does this have anything to do with drilling horizontal or is there a definate reason for using 7" Thanks.
