GHS How To

POSTING IN THE MAIN FORUM

The main forum is the place where general discussions should take place. The primary category for the main forum is "Shale Related Topics." A member can quickly make a post by clicking on the "+ Add a Discussion" link on the home page in the upper right. Before posting here, ask yourself, is this post related to a specific parish or county. If so, you should post it in a county or parish group and NOT the main page forum.

JOINING GROUPS

Groups are basically small forums designed to discuss a certain topic or geographical area. Typically, we use them to discuss activity in counties and parishes. Joining a select group(s) permits you to post a reply or make a comment. As a member of a group you will also receive email notifications for new discussions and replies to existing discussions within that group (unless you turn off that option under "settings.").

Each group must be joined in order to post there. This allows you to instantly participate. You can join as many groups as you like.

*Important: Often times there are multiple groups that may cover an area of particular interest to you. IE, let's take a look at the Tuscaloosa Marine Shale, or the TMS. Currently, there are 8 groups discussing the TMS including; Tuscaloosa Marine Shale, Mississippi Mineral Owners and six county groups (Amite, Wilkinson counties and W Feliciana, E Feliciana, St. Helena and Tangipahoa parishes). You may consider joining all these groups to keep up with developments.

Also, we have tried to make this a bit easier by organizing the groups by state for quicker searching. It's just another way to sort through the many groups we have on GHS.
