The link to Sonris doesn't work correctly, but if you go to Sonris Lite and then to "Lease Sale & Tract History" under the Minerals heading, you can navigate to the Mineral Lease Sales dated August 13.

Looks like the per acreage price in Caddo, Bossier, DeSoto, Bienville was mostly 18,500 and higher. It also looks like several tracts went for greater than 25% royalty.

This is a little difficult to understand at first glance. Maybe someone in the know can analyze it and interpret it for us laypeople!

THANKS, T he average contract database from Colorado is showing about the same, a slight drop from July.
Sonris Lite seems easier to comprehend.
The sonris link under "helpful links" on the home page is working but won't work on an interior page.
OK, are these privately owned landowners, like us? or lands that the State has leased? And why isnt, like Chesapeake, Petrohawk, etc., listed.....I am probably too new to understand all this....But Thanks.
These are all publicly owned lands and the companies are usually land companies that are leasing for an O&G company. Last month, Theophilus represented Petrohawk, and Petrohawk actually wrote the checks for the leases.
Ok, so where it has Bossier 1, 13, 14, 19,......T15N, T16N R10W, R11W, does that mean Sections 1, 13, 14 & 19, etc.?
OK, excuse me for being so ignorant, but I don't understand how they "bid" on private landowners land & why some have no bids, someone else told me these were only bids for state owned lands? Just trying to understand if the actual 8/13 date from Sonris Lite is for private landowners? Thanks for any help.
The lease bids and history that you are viewing on Sonris are all for public owned property, not for private landowners.

In order to view any leases for private landowners, you would probably need to use the Clerk of Court websites for the particular parish.
I called Theophilus (office in Baton Rouge) and was told they were only bidding on State owned property.
Does anyone have any information as to why there were a few Caddo/DeSoto lands that did not receive a bid?
Hey KB,

I was referring to the lands that were included in today's State Mineral Lease. There were 3 tracts in Caddo/DeSoto that were put up and were not even bid on. I believe that Mit is correct, that the lands could have had a minimum bid, or could have included a Favored Nations Clause, etc.

I was just checking to see if anyone knew what it was exactly.
It is common to have a starting bid amount. That amount is also announced before the bidding process begins. Don't know why these parcels did not receive a bid, but it probably has something to do with the starting bid amount.
