Thanks for sharing your royalty calculator. My check was just a little bit more than what was calculated, but that's probably because of rounding. I like using your calculator because it asks for total monthly production, and not daily. Just one more step I don't have to do!.... thanks again for sharing.
How fun to figure up how much money we could be making! Especially when every section around us has been drilled and nothing yet for ours :( Supposedly wasn't even on the books til 2012 to be drilled... until it was brought to their attention they have leases running out around July 1st that is. Maybe they'll kick it in gear now and that royalty calculator will be right on the money ;-)
Here's a copy of the Excel worksheet calculator that I put together and first posted on the site back in early 2010.
It does factor in decline rate (calculated daily). The decline rate used was based upon Petrohawk's projected/published decline rates that were detailed in their Feb 2010 investor's presentation.
The various tabs also let you take a look at your potential situation based upon continued in-fill production in your units with new wells that could possibly be completed on a 1-year, 2-year, 3-year, 4-year, 5-year in-fill cycle.
Keep in mind that you should use this - and any such royalty calculator - for entertainment purposes only and never make any major financial decisions based upon "potential" monies not yet in your pockets.
I do think that this calculator still needs a few tweeks and still overcalculates things a bit.
That said, I do think it is more thorough than any other online calculators that I have previously seen.
