So I have been looking at these well reports that you posted above for EOG's Gammage, Hill, Hassell, and Pop Pop wells and there are a number of items that just are not adding up what has been reported.

Granted I'm not a geologist and am relatively new at trying to decipher these reports, but there are a number of interesting items to note in the four reports in that attachement.

Here's a rundown of the idiosyncracies that now have me very curious:

Gammage:
a) This was initially reported on 10/10 as drilling to 16,287' with an IP of 2.395 mmcfd on a 19/64 choke.

http://www.tylerpaper.com/article/20091011/BUSINESS03/910110316/-1/...

b) 6 weeks later there is a secondary report on 11/29 that the well was drilled to 13,284' in the North Carthage-Bossier and had an IP of 10,352 mmcfd on an 18/64 choke.

So right off the bat, it seems that the first IP report could likely have been for a verticle test in a deeper formation than the N.Carthage-Bossier horizontal completion that they report later on.

Gammage Completion Report:
a. Surface Pad Elevation: 278'
b. Top of Pay depth: 13,434'
c. Formations Tops listed:
- 3,360 / Saratoga
- 4,430 / Austin Chalk
- 4,750 / Eagleford
- 4,770 / Duck Creek
- 7,200 / Massive Anhy
- 7,600 / Bexar Shale
- 7,720-7,890 / James Lime
- 8,000 / Pettit
- 8,750 / Travis Peak
- 11,290-11,920 / Cotton Valley "B" Lime
- 12,030 / Bossier Shale
- 13,270 / Haynesville

Interesting point #1:- Is the Bossier really 1,250' thick at this location? Look at the differences in reported formation tops between Bossier and Haynesville

Interesting point #2:- Well is IP'd and reported on 11/29 as producing in the Bossier Shale at 13,284' yet the completion report is showing Haynesville top at 13,270

-------------

Hassell #1:

IP from E.TX Drilling Report on 12/6: The Hassell Gas Unit Well No. 1 hit 17,105 feet 1.2 miles southeast of Attoyac. On a 23/64-inch choke the well potentialed 12.636 million cubic feet of gas..

Hassell #1 Completion Report:
a. Surface Pad Elevation: 295'
b. Top of Pay depth: 13,588'
c. Formations Tops listed:
- 3,320 / Saratoga
- 4,835 / Eagleford
- 4,910 / Duck Creek
- 5,420 / Paluxy
- 6.300 /Moringsport
- 7,220 / Massive Anhy
- 7,620 / Bexar Shale
- 7,740-7,925 / James Lime
- 8,025 / Pettit
- 8,706 / Travis Peak
- 11,283-12,030 / Cotton Valley "B" Lime
- 12,862 / Haynesville

Interesting point #1: The IP reported for this well was listed as N.Carthage Bossier, but the Bossier formation was left of of the formation record listings in the well report. There is, however a gap of over 800' between were the bottom depth of the Cotton Valley B Lime is listed and the formation top of where Haynesville is listed.

Interesting Point #2: Again, IP'd in Bossier, but the Pay Depth is listed at 13,588' which is over 700' BELOW the reported top of Haynesville at this location.

---------------

Pop Pop:
a) IP from E.TX Drilling Report on 12/6: The Pop Pop Gas Unit Well No. 1 hit 18,460 feet 1.7 miles southeast of Attoyac. On a 25/64-inch choke the well potentialed 19.324 million cubic feet of gas. Production is in the Bossier Shale.

Pop Pop Completion Report:
a. Surface Pad Elevation: 259'
b. Top of Pay depth: 13,293'
c. Formations Tops listed:
- 3,480 / Saratoga
- 4,795 / Duck Creek
- 7,179 / Massive Anhy
- 7,699 / James Lime
- 7.986 / Pettit
- 8,666/ Travis Peak
- 11,236 / Cotton Valley "B" Lime
- 12,163 / Bossier Shale
- 12,812/ Haynesville

Interesting point #1: This well is IP'd and reported as producing in the Bossier Shale, however
the Top of Pay zone is listed as 13,293' which is a whopping 1,130' below the report foundation top of the Bossier at this location. It is also 481' below the reported foundation top of the Haynesville at this location.

Hmmmm?

-------------

Hill #1:
a) IP from E.TX Drilling Report on 12/6: The Hill Well No. 1 hit 17,465 feet 18.2 miles east of Nacogdoches. On a 18/64-inch choke the well potentialed 14.056 million cubic feet of gas.

Hill #1Completion Report:
a. Surface Pad Elevation: 273'
b. Top of Pay depth: 13,561'
c. Formations Tops listed:
- 3,340 / Saratoga
- 4,770 / Duck Creek
- 7,032 / Massive Anhy
- 7,556 / James Lime
- 7.847 / Pettit
- 8,521/ Travis Peak
- 11,124 / Cotton Valley "B" Lime
- 12,035 / Bossier Shale
- 12,700/ Haynesville
- 13,243/ SMACKOVER, SMACKOVER, SMACKOVER

This well is IP'd and reported as producing in the Bossier Shale, however
the Top of Pay zone is listed as 13,531' which is a a full 1,500' below the report foundation top of the Bossier at this location. It is also over 700' below the reported foundation top of the Haynesville at this location.

Furthermore, unless I'm reading these numbers in the well record are correct it is showing that the pay zone for this Hill#1 is producing below both Bossier and the Haynesville and is actually producting at 300' into the Smackover.

Even if you deduct out the 279' listed in the surface elevation in order to set the depth of the formation tops from starting at sub sea-level, the numbers as reported would have this completion actually producing in the SMACKOVER.

------------

OK, so now let's look again at the reported pay depth for all four of these wells:

1) Gammage: 13,434'
2) Hassell: 13,588'
3) Pop Pop: 13,293'
4) Hill: 13,561'

Hill Formation Top Depth Report is listing SMACKOVER at 13,243'

That said, doesn't it now appear that ALL FOUR of these wells have drilled through the Bossier and Haynesville and that the production is actually coming out of the Smackover?????

Would love to hear some input from all of the geologists here on GHS to either shoot this theory down in flames or look at these same numbers in the well reports and come to the same conclusion?
I "think" the first report for the Gammage--they had not frac'd the entire horizontal section.

Even more interesting is the reported production on the TRRC website for these wells;

also new vertical 14,000' test being drilled now by EOG spud 12-21-2009--Erwin #1--"martinsville *Travis Peak" and "wildcat" NW of the Hassell/Hill/Pop-Pop/Gammage
TRRC production
HASSELL #1 10/09 284,505 MCF
RRC Identifier: 681991
POP POP #1 10/09 402,407 MCF
RRC Identifier: 68199
HILL #1 09/2009 334,720 MCF; 10/09 282,674 MCF
RRC Identifier: 680498
GAMMAGE #1 9/09 75,679 MCF 10/09 64,537 MCF
I see that the Gammage also has a total of over 805,518 mcf in the just over 6 months it has been producing. So just a bit over 5 mil per day. May '09 was at 237,686 mcf and October at 64,537'.

Makes me wonder how much of those reduced numbers are rapid decline curve versus whether EOG restricted the flow due to low NG price - which was at around $2.00/mcf at that time period.

Hoping it was the later....
Good work D. Gaar...Happy New Year's...still a lot of drilling to be done..
