I have a friend who's ranch a company is wanting to run a temporary water line across to frac other wells. Has anyone come across this and what compensation would be reasonable.

This is a common request. I have no idea what is reasonable compensation (presumably it's however much they're willing to pay), but it will depend on the market in the area where the land is located. If your friend can convince them to buy the frac water directly from him it would be much more lucrative than merely allowing them to lay a line.
