I have been looking around the discussion groups and it seems like there is significant activity. Has there been any moves toward unifying as a group to negotiate as the folks over in Texas did......My aunt lives in the FtWorth area and a whopper of a lease and percentage by joining a group in her suburb for just a acre. I would be interested in discussing a similar situation with folks in the Castor area.
Ouch! oh well we thought it would not hurt but that was before we new about all this { we are living out of state} , however we have leased before but they have never drilled. I am getting an education through this forum.
But if the siesmic comes back good - ur in the drivers seat.
You are right, But I'm afraid the car won't go anywhere if someone doesn't allow siesmic in unproven areas. I don't think O&G will just spend millions to just drill holes in the ground at random. Just my opinion (not worth much).
BirdDawg, I am in agreement with you.
There is no chance that the company is going to share the info with the landowner.
You may think it is good advice for you, but you would be doing everyone else a disservice to say it is good advice for them. It is very simple, O&G uses seismic to locate the best place to drill for oil and gas. Seismic does not actually "see the oil or gas" but is determines the best potential spots for oil and gas to be trapped. The results of 3-D seismic work would would be of no use to you, unless you are a geophysicist. And to expect them to give you this information is probably the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard. These projects cost multimillions, nobody gives anything away that cost that much, and then other companies might get the opportunity to use there info for FREE. Not hardly gonna happen. Just my opinion, but if no one ever allowed seismic in some areas, there would never be any drilling. Personally I want to increase my chances of getting wells drilled. The seismic is not particularly important in drilling the Haynesville Shale in any of the known HS field. But it is invaluable in determing other types of structural possibilities, and I for one will also take any money made from gas produced from a sand also. Of course you are entitled to your opinion, it just happens to be one that I strongly disagree with. And I personally think it is bad advicef or many other people.
I am of the opinion that the siesmic testing will probably be a great benefit to you as a landowner. In our case there was a 2D siesmic shoot done in 2000 and now they are in the process of doing a 3D shoot. It is hard to believe they would invest what it cost to do a 3D without having a pretty good idea that the area is productive. We had a petroleum engineer look at our contract before signing for the shoot. He advised us to proceed. He said it was in our best interest.
