The Garrett well is being flared and tested again. The permit is for a 90-day period from Oct 14 to Jan 14. SONRIS Lite lists the allowable as 1700 and the estimated potential as 85, but I'm not sure how to interpret this. There is apparently still no pipeline connection.

I can't believe they have not run a pipeline yet. Lot of wasted gas and money.
Permalink Reply by Rock Man on October 17, 2013 at 15:27 Any idea how far it is to closest gathering line with capacity?
Permalink Reply by obed w odom on October 17, 2013 at 16:01 I think it is no more than 5 or 6 miles, but we heard that SWN was having trouble negotiating a pipeline right-of-way with one of the landowners.
Permalink Reply by Rock Man on October 17, 2013 at 16:21 Thanks for that info - the ROW conflict will stop many a pipelne.
At this distance, probably $1 Million give or take for total pipeline costs. Probably need at least 300MMCF of production to break even on this
Mark, do you think the DNR will allow SWN to flare gas solely due to the fact that it is unprofitable to run the pipeline?
Permalink Reply by Rock Man on October 18, 2013 at 4:26 Really don't know the DNR's historical policy on flaring. If it is sour gas with sulfur odor, could be a problem.
Permalink Reply by Land Rat on October 18, 2013 at 9:54 There's a general prohibition. They'll have to file for an economic hardship exception and then it will be up to the district manager in Monroe. Stakeholders should be able to petition against or in favor of as well.

SWN is flaring 500 mcf per day.

AboutAs exciting as this is, we know that we have a responsibility to do this thing correctly. After all, we want the farm to remain a place where the family can gather for another 80 years and beyond. This site was born out of these desires. Before we started this site, googling "shale' brought up little information. Certainly nothing that was useful as we negotiated a lease. Read More |
