SONRIS Lite is now reporting cumulative oil and gas production for the month of January, 2013, for the L SMK RA SUA unit in the Ora Field of Union Parish, which contains the BML and Doles horizontals. The figures, which appear to be total unit production from both wells, are 17,752 barrels of oil (condensate?) and 123,361 MCF of gas. Assuming this is for 31 days, this is equivalent to 573 BOPD and 3979 MCFD. The state potential tests were run for both wells on or about January 31, 2013 and showed combined production of 511 BOPD and 4353 MCFD. So it appears that daily production did not drop precipitously during the month. Of course we don't know how much choke settings were changed during the month. It will be interesting to see how the output holds up in the next few months.

If it's a failure then so be it. Life goes on and I thank God for what I have. If it's a boom then that will be great also. Either way I want to continue to share info with others on this site so everyone can try to make an informed decision one way or the other.
Well said and the way it should be. I hope it is great but like you, I am glad to have the opportunity to observe it play out.
No one knows if the LSBD will be successful or not. Whiting did not quit leasing, if that is the case, due to their experience with the LSBD in the Jackson well. They have not reached the LSBD. Let Whiting drill a few more wells and we will know more.
Analysts like SWN's stock because of their low production cost in the their gas plays. Mueller said the LSBD was a 50/50 proposition at best. That is not much hype. Whiting has made no statements about the LSBD. Neither has ANKOR but both have taken positions in the play after seeing SWN's poor results
I still don't understand the "Cotton Valley curse". It might be the "Cotton Valley cure " if the LSBD is a bust.
shale player, I know you have a confidentiality agreement but can you tell me which bar the SWN guys go to drown their sorrows and discuss the LSBD's complete failure? Is it in Conway or Houston?
Yes, I know why the stock analyst rate SWN highly though your initial post made it seem it was somehow related to LSBD. The key to confidence in LSBD would be an industry investor in the SWN part of the play and that has not materialized. Most of the hype and hope has been on this board.
WLL has ceased leasing. Three twist offs would double the cost of drilling the initial well, at least. I understood they had to rebore multiple times. No body knows, but I think that would put a dent in the capital budget for what was going on. Then again, maybe they operate like SWN.
I did not mention the LSBD in my initial post. I just posted a "fact" not a so-called over heard rumor. As you said, no "confidence" in the LSBD, therefore no equity value in SWN stock.
Whiting has had problems but it has nothing to do with the LSBD. They have not even reached the SMK. Three twist offs, double drilling cost, multiple rebores, capex budget dented? No more leasing due to Jackson well shattering budget? Cotton Valley curse? Not a hater?
The mineral owners on this board do not hype but we do hope. Is it your intention to kill that hope on this board? I don't see any harm we can cause by hoping.
Tony,
I don't work for SWN, but I do have industry contacts who know those guys and know what is going on there. My family is from the area - I have no reason to wish the project anything but success - and I am not short SWN.
Just trying to help those who care about what is going on to stay up with the latest rumors/facts.
As far as the beer is concerned, I think the SWN's favorite places to cry are the TexMex places near the office.
When will they post the production for the month of May 2013?
They can report the May results as early as they wish, but the deadline for reporting them is 60 days after May 31, or July 30.
Both the Doles and BML received DT-1 potential tests in late April. Results reported by SONRIS are as follows:
Doles, tested 4/23/2013: 61 barrels condensate per day, 1573 MCFD, 281 barrels water per day,
34/64 choke, 676 psi flowing pressure, 6243 psi shut-in pressure.
BML, tested 4/27/2013: 139 barrels condensate per day, 1441 MCFD, 60 barrels water per day, 22/64 choke, 856 psi flowing pressure, 5891 psi shut-in pressure.
So the BML seems to be beating the Doles in all categories except for a slight edge for the Doles in shut-in pressure.

remember that according to SWN's published data the BML was completed after the Doles was completed and tested. So the Doles is "older" and as such may not be capable of delivering what a "younger" well could.
Getting older is not good for wells, but I don't mind in my case, I think I'm getting wiser?
Shale drilling and lithium extraction are seemingly distinct activities, but there is a growing connection between the two as the world moves towards cleaner energy solutions. While shale drilling primarily targets…

AboutAs exciting as this is, we know that we have a responsibility to do this thing correctly. After all, we want the farm to remain a place where the family can gather for another 80 years and beyond. This site was born out of these desires. Before we started this site, googling "shale' brought up little information. Certainly nothing that was useful as we negotiated a lease. Read More |
