Skip,

Goodrich actually has 3 rigs here, though only 2 are currently drilling.  The Nabors X-17 is finishing at the Denkmann and presumably will be assigned elsewhere in the TMS.

Also, Sanchez is drilling the Dry Creek East #2 in Wilkinson County with the Rapad Rig # 31.

Goodrich retired a rig when it completed drilling recently and says they will be bringing in another one shortly to get back up to 4 and plan to get to 5 in the next couple of months.

Comstock says they plan to spud their first well as soon as possible...likely in July.

So by end of September the number of rigs should be at least 11.

Rumors are EnCana is bringing in 2 more in the 4th quarter and it wouldn't surprise me with Apollo now on board if Halcon doesn't add a couple in the 4th quarter...bringing total to 15.

All that makes sense Bernell.  With the growing backlog of permits the number of rigs deployed should go up in the very near future.  Before that occurs I think the undrilled permits will exceed 100.  I'll add the SN Wilkinson well to the list.  Thanks.

You might consider adding the Goodrich Nabors Rig # 624 currently drilling on the Foster Creek 24-13H-1.

Do you know when the 624 spud?

May 30.

Thanks.

Thanks so much for posting that assembly of information, I had been wondering about this as well and if I am honest I was not going to go back and root through the MSOGB dockets and I have never been able to figure out that SONRIS site all that well either.

Now, as you are experienced in all this stuff what is your opinion on so many permitted wells without them being drilled?  I would imagine that if the well was permitted, there has to be some effort and expense in that, then they were intended to be drilled.  But with 85 wells to drill and what looks like 7 drilling rigs in the areas, that is a tall order.

Is it common for companies to seek and obtain permits and then never drill?  I believe I had understood that the permits were good for one year in MS, I am not sure in LA.  Maybe this is all normal, I don't know.

Ike, the increase in permits reflects the investment in a lot of rock that needs to get drilled in order to HBP (Hold By Production).  You are correct that MS permits to drill are effective for 12 months.  LA offers a 6 or 12 month permit.  The only well permit on my spreadsheet that has expired is the GDP Cavin 11-2H on June 21.  I suspect that GDP will re-permit in the near future.  Drilling schedules change over time and some wells will be bumped down the line.  There are 10 wells with permits that expire in late August.

Muchas Gracias....Licenciado Skip.  Appreciate the information.  Makes sense.

De nada, Ike.

Great summary! Thanks for putting this together

Two additional wells/rigs currently in the TMS are, as follows:

GDP Foster Creek 24-13H-1 drilling with the Nabors Rig # 624.

Sanchez Dry Fork East #2H drilling with Rapad Rig #31.
