It is time for the Mississippi site to have the discussions about Mississippi wells.

There are 5 new pending permits and petitions before the board--two by Goodrich and 3 by EnCana.

There is a South offset to the Crosby Well and a proposed a well to the SE in 2N 1E. These are in Wilkinson.

EnCana has proposed 2 wells adjacent to each other north of the Ash Wells in Amite.

There is also a proposed well in Sections 5 and 8 in 1N 4E in Amite.

The procedure so far has been to get a force integration permit--to force the landowners to lease; then not drill the wells immediately. (This is an abuse, particularly by EnCana, by which they use the force integration statute to help get the prospect leased--then they don't drill before the force integration permit expires.  They drill instead when they are good and ready.)

But, being in a unit is a hell of a good start even if it doesn't get drilled immediately--and it looks like poor ole Mississippi is getting more than its share of permits.

It is now clear that EnCana is using the Oil and Gas Board, and the Alternate Risk Force Integration Statute to force unleased owners to lease to them on their terms.

They file petitions to form units the first time merely for this purpose, which is a clear abuse of the spirit of the statute.

The only activity observable would be at the Foster Creek and the Huff well sites where Goodrich is working. Encana's sites are dead for the rest of 2013 with the exception that they may be installing pumps on the last two Anderson wells in the next month or so.

We own a very small portion of minerals in the area that the CMR/Foster Creek permit is being applied for.  I was able to confirm that they are set to drill this well and all is proceeding.  It is a Goodrich well.

I've got a friend who works AT Vine's, I'll meet him there one afternoon when he gets off.  He talks to those workers every day, I'm sure we can find them, even take a pic or two.

You are right on target:

__________

In regard to EnCana, in many large corporations there are real serious fights for capital/resources that decide peoples careers and these won & lost battles can look dysfunctional to outsiders.

_____________

I believe you are right on target with this. I think the leadership change (David P. O'Brien steps down as Board Chairman...After serving with distinction for more than 10 years, David P. O'Brien has stepped down as the Chairman of the Board of Directors and will remain a Director of Encana. One of the founders of Encana, Mr. O'Brien has held leadership roles with Encana or one of its predecessor companies for more than 20 years.) Also, Doug Suttles is CEO now at EnCana (Suttles was with Exxon in Oklahoma and Texas, prior to joining BP, where he initially spent eight years in Alaska in various engineering and leadership roles.)

So you are seeing a changing of the guard. Be interesting to see what comes about. Just so long as they drill all those permits they are applying for. They are mostly nat gas based and are trying to transition to liquids.

Drill!!

Wilkinson and Amite Counties:

If you add up past permits(approved and pending) and those announced for the Oct MSOG Board meeting for both counties, there are 30+ permits  for Goodrich and EnCana. I may be a little off on my count but it is close. Comments anyone? Am I wrong on this?

Hope someone put a tarp on some of these football fields for tonight's games. It is going to be slip and slide football.

Realistically is there anyway they can drill all these within a year?

There is no way. The game is ?? Force integrate and pick the best spot.??..Anyone heard when Sanchez is going to start drilling? No permits with MSOGB yet.

How long does a well take to drill? 5 months? If so a rig could drill two wells and start a third one.

As long as a well is spud that's enough to hold the lease correct? So 10 rigs would be needed for 30 wells in this case.

Just trying to put number to it. I may be way off.

One rig could drill 8 wells per year, though 7 would be a more conservative estimate.

So, 30 wells could conceivably be drilled in one year by using 4 rigs working full time.

Not as bad as I had thought. That sounds like it could be done if they really made a push.

Can anyone explain what happens if you lease only part of your mineral rights and the part you don't lease falls into a unit? Someone overlooked 17 acres when our land was leased 2.5 years ago and now somone caught the mistake and wants to lease the unleased portion. This acreage is in section 5 of Amite county where the Smth well is. The Smith unit stops just north of this 17 acres.

The Lithium Connection to Shale Drilling

Shale drilling and lithium extraction are seemingly distinct activities, but there is a growing connection between the two as the world moves towards cleaner energy solutions. While shale drilling primarily targets…
