Completions: 

The Carthage Field has seen the South Gary Gas Unit 1 Well No.11 H and the CGU 16 Well No.18 completed by Anadarko E & P Company LP. The No.11 H is located 1.4 miles southeast from Gary with a depth of 11,755-feet and potentialed 1.606 million cubic feet of gas when gauged on a 48/64-inch choke. The No.18 is located 4.9 miles northwest from Carthage with a depth of 9,855-feet and potentialed 1.236 million cubic feet of gas when gauged on an adjustable choke. Production is in the Cotton Valley formation.

Anadarko E&P Company LP has completed the Kyle, Fred Gas Unit Well No.17 in the Carthage Field. The well bottoms at 9,465-feet and is located four miles southeast from Carthage. When gauged on a 26/64-inch choke, this well potentialed 1.206 million cubic feet of gas. Production is in the Cotton Valley formation.

The PEC Minerals Gas Unit No.2 Well No.3H has been completed in the Carthage, North Field. XTO Energy Inc. has completed the well to a depth of 15,358-feet and potentialed 4.761 million cubic feet of gas when gauged on a 15/64-inch choke. Production is in the Bossier Shale formation.

Goodrich Petroleum Co. has completed the Billy Harris Hay Well No.1H in the Carthage, North Field. The well is located 4.2 miles southwest from Tatum with a depth of 16,380-feet. When gauged on a 24/64- inch choke,the well potentialed 11.698 million cubic feet of gas. Production is in the Bossier Shale formation.

In researching the decades-old Tuscaloosa Trend and the immense wealth it has generated for many, I find it deeply troubling that this resource-rich formation runs directly beneath one of the poorest communities in North Baton Rouge—near Southern University, Louisiana—yet neither the university ( that I am aware of)  nor local residents appear to have received any compensation for the minerals extracted from their land.

This area has suffered immense environmental degradation…
