East Texas Drilling Report 3-21-10

San Augustine County

Common Resources completed the Red. River 620 Well No. 1-H to 18,072 feet in a lease six miles northeast of Attoyac in the Bossierville Field. The well potentialed 22.084 million cubic feet of gas on a 29/64-inch choke. Production is in the Bossier Shale.
that's another nice well for san augustine county. it will be interesting to follow this well to see if common resources has any better luck than devon did , operating a high volume well.

Jffree, you may want to clarify this well is a Haynesville Shale completion. The RR 257 #2 was the Middle-Bossier Shale completion.
OK, until the field consolidation was made official all these deep shale wells in San Augustine County were permitted to the North Carthage or Bossierville (Bossier Shale). Those fields have now been consolidated into the Carthage (Haynesville Shale).

To the best of my knowledge (which could be wrong) the RR 257 No. 2 #1H has been the only completion in this county in the middle-bossier. All the others are lower Bossier or Haynesville shale completions.

Les, it is still unclear to me (still) whether there will be any attempt by the operators or TRRC to differentiate between the middle Bossier and the Haynesville intervals in East Texas. I believe, the way the correlative interval was written, they will put them all together in the same field. Do you see it any different?
jffree1,
What is the very maximum number of acres in a permit now with the new field rules.
Thanks
Cheerleader, I think that is dependent on the length of the lateral. There is another discussion where I posted the (TRRC) chart for figuring out unit acreage over 640. If I get time to look for it, I'll give you a link.
Thanks jffree1,
I thought I remembered seeing the posting just could not remember the criteria.
Jffree, my interpretation of the rules for the new Carthage (Haynesville Shale) Field is that will cover both the Haynesville Shale and Mid-Bossier Shale. So there will be no requirement for operators to identify the specific formation on well permits or completion reports.

It is even worse in Louisiana as the production from the two shale formations is not indentified separately in the State summary reports.
That's about what I thought.

The Lithium Connection to Shale Drilling

Shale drilling and lithium extraction are seemingly distinct activities, but there is a growing connection between the two as the world moves towards cleaner energy solutions. While shale drilling primarily targets…
