Crimson Exploration has signed drilling contracts for two rigs to be used for part of its 2010 capital program. Both rigs will be working in Texas; one in the San Augustine/Sabine area of east Texas and the other in Liberty County in southeast Texas.

East Texas -- San Augustine/Sabine Counties Crimson secured a rig contract with a one year term that will allow continued development of its acreage position in the Haynesville/Mid-Bossier shale plays in San Augustine and Sabine counties. Delivery of the 1,500 hp rig is currently scheduled for March 1, 2010. The Company anticipates drilling four to five wells in this area with this rig.

Cool! Was that a press release?
Yes, I only copied the East Texas portion.

Thanks! With a rig scheduled to appear March 1, they need to get busy and permit a well somewhere, don't you think?
I f they plan to drill 4-5 wells they are going to have to keep it moving from the outset.

This also from St. Mary presser on their 2010 budget of which $89 million will be spent in the Haynesville.
Haynesville shale plans to drill six horizontal wells and one vertical well in 2010, all of which will be drilled in San Augustine and Shelby counties, Texas. The drilling program has been designed to utilize recently acquired 3D seismic data while preserving core leasehold that constitutes roughly 64% of the capital budget allocated.
I hope we are core leasehold!
Add these 10-11 Haynesville/Bossier wells to the 50 that Devon plans on drilling and the unknown quantity that Cabot, Southwestern, Samson, EOG, XTO, and others and we could see a pretty healthy level of activity in the "Haynesville South"......more than one per week at that rate and looks to be the same for 2011 if estimates hold true and the POG holds tight.
I guess the Ironosa 1H will probably be their first horizontal well. I forgot they had a permit... Sr. moment, LOL.
jffree,
I think this information/press release, for Crimson, was also on oilvoice.com
Thanks, CL.
This is great I hope that they come on down 21East. Then they can come on up Fm.1 to our place!
If you look at the way this thing is going on both sides of the lake......north sabine should be right there!
It's just going to take one decent well, Ken. Someone will have to make that first move and it's looking like a toss up between Crimson and Devon (maybe both together) to take the first step. I thought things were starting to move when Range permitted two wells but either they aren't in any hurry or the Forest Service is holding things up.
jffree,
Once the well is permitted doesn't the OG have a time limit as to commencing the well?
The permit is good for two years, I believe.
