Crimson Exploration has signed drilling contracts for two rigs to be used for part of its 2010 capital program. Both rigs will be working in Texas; one in the San Augustine/Sabine area of east Texas and the other in Liberty County in southeast Texas.

East Texas -- San Augustine/Sabine Counties Crimson secured a rig contract with a one year term that will allow continued development of its acreage position in the Haynesville/Mid-Bossier shale plays in San Augustine and Sabine counties. Delivery of the 1,500 hp rig is currently scheduled for March 1, 2010. The Company anticipates drilling four to five wells in this area with this rig.

Thanks jffree
Crimson stock is getting pounded. So much for the Kardell well attracting investors and drilling funds. Their IPO has been a flop. Surprising, I like the company and think they are sharp folks.
Looks like Chesapeake is following Crimson and Devon to the southern part of the play. Sweet!

Chesapeake Energy Divestment of Northwestern Haynesville Shale Leasehold

This divestment plan of this northwestern part of Texas should explain as to where this independent is focusing on development of the Haynesville Shale more and more as time goes on.It appears they like the deeper part of this play more. Some think the divestment is because they can't drill fast enough to develop what they leased as a whole. This is not so. They just don't think it makes economic sense to develop this leasehold position that they are divesting of. They probably have figured out that they don't have enough Shale Thickness, BHP, Perm, Porosity, TOC, Fractures, etc. in this area as to this leasehold area of their divestment plan. Also, the numbers that have been reported to date on production in this divestment area are not as good as the deeper part of this play that is in a southern direction of this area.Shelby, San Augustine, Nacogdoches Counties of Texas.
Chesapeake moving into an area is usually not good news.
Yeah you are right. Aubrey might get another margin call and have to sell cheap. Or sell more of his multimillion dollar wine collection.

Thought this was interesting as I haven't heard them name all these targets for their acreage yet.

Crimson Exploration Inc. Announces Fourth Quarter 2009 Production Results, Year-End Reserves, and 2010 Operational Guidance

East Texas -- Haynesville Shale and Mid-Bossier Shale

During the fourth quarter of 2009, Crimson announced the successful completion of the company's first well in East Texas; the Kardell #1H which recorded the highest 24-hour gas rate reported to date in the entire Haynesville Shale play (30.7 Mcfe per day). Since that time the well has produced almost 1 Bcf of natural gas in the first 90 days of production. The Kardell well brought significant attention to San Augustine County as a potential new "Core Area" of the play. We have recently executed a one-year rig contract for our planned drilling activity in East Texas. The first of five planned operated wells during 2010 is expected to spud in early March. Crimson has approximately 12,000 net acres in San Augustine and Sabine counties that it considers highly prospective in the Haynesville Shale, Mid-Bossier Shale and James Lime formations.
Interesting data on reserves. Enterprise value minus PV10 for Proved Reserves using strip data = zero. Which means investors get the Probable, Possible, leasehold value, and the corporate 'expertise' (if any) for free. Nice. I like the way this sounds.
