Does anyone know if St Mary has a partner[s] in this well. Is this permit in the north east corner of the Patterson survey? Isn't 778 acres excessive?
The plat says 704.00 acres Cheerleader. That's a standard unit of 640 + 10% (64).
jffree,
Have you heard if St Mary has a partner in this well?
I be glad when they get to my survey 139 and this is going to be good for San Augustine . I told a lot of people the play was going to deeper to south and no one believe me . I think we are going to see the best wells any were in Texas right here i San Augustine county And there is going to be alot of rich people in San Agustin.
I hope you are right Jerry.

CL I haven't heard anything. ALongview might know something because he stays up with what St. Mary is doing.
I haven't heard of any partnering(yet) to develop the acreage St. Mary holds. Some of it in San Augustine is HBP by James Lime wells or shallower. I have heard that they are going to develop the area in earnest for Haynesville starting next year(March is what their presentation said, a little bit later is what I heard personally). They were waiting on results of seismic which they have been shooting since the begininning of the year and they already have the science from their vertical test. They should have a pretty good idea as to where the best places to drill are on their acreage. It should be exciting as they have roughly 36k contiguous acres in Shelby and San Augustine Counties and most of it right in the prime area being drilled by Common/Cabot/SWN and Devon in San Augustine and very near XTO in Shelby.
Did you ever figure out which well Cabot was talking about with a 21.3 Mmcf IP? I haven't seen anything yet...
jfree1, I do not know which well that is. Very ambiguous in their press release. One of the JVA's but I think there are three distinct areas that they have agreements with the same companies.
I think the well you are talking about is Burrows Gas Unit #1H (API 405-30284). This Haynesville Shale well was drilled by Common Resources with partners Southwestern Energy and Cabot Oil and gas. Cabot reported the result in their November Investor Presentation:

http://www.cabotog.com/presentation.html

The well is located about 4 miles north of Denning in NW San Augustine County. The flowing pressure was 8120 psi with a 27/64 choke.

Cabot also reported on Burdette A Oil Unit (405-30293), a Pettet Lime well that is more or less under the Katherine Von Goetz #2H James Lime gas well. This well was reported as having an IP of 3.5 mmcfd of gas and 280 BOPD. These wells are about 2 miles north of the intersection of HW 21 and the road to the Thomas Cemetery.

It is curious that I haven't seem much written about these wells since it seems to me that these wells are good news for San Augustine County ranking up there with the Kardell #1H.

Other good news is the EOG Resources Pop Pop Gas Unit #1H Bossier Shale well (API 347-33085) which had an IP of 19.3 mmcfd with a 25/64 choke. This well is just across the Attoyac River in Nacogdoches County on about the same latitude as the Katherine Von Goetz wells.
ALongview and jffree,
Do you know if the OG actually drilling the well must apply for the permit or in this case can St Mary apply and then defer to a partner for driliing?
Devon applied for the 30.7 but I think they had 53% interest.
In the SM press release they report a Granite Wash 17mmcf horizontal well but they had a partner. Have they actually ever drilled a horizontal by themselves??
Where did you guys see a 21.3 Cabot well?? Was the implication that it was in San Augustine County?? What does JVA mean?
Thanks
ALongview and Jffree,
I found the well on Cabot's website. They isn't a hint of the location. Which brings me to another question. Do we wait until an OG reports there is a partner involved in the well or are they obligated to report partnerships to the Texas RRC? Any one who has followed Common Resources and Cabot may be able to guess as to which well they are referencing. Is anyone speculating on which well they are referring to??
CL, It is in San Augustine County I believe. Anyone with an interest would be the first to find out about a joint venture. They do however file them at the county recorder as well. As for the rules for the Texas RRC, I have no idea on those rules. Eventually a well like that will come out.

The Lithium Connection to Shale Drilling

Shale drilling and lithium extraction are seemingly distinct activities, but there is a growing connection between the two as the world moves towards cleaner energy solutions. While shale drilling primarily targets…
