J. R. We know Mr. Mitchell quite well and have discussed his contributions to this play and horizontal completions in general numerous times. By the way, you're hat's on a little crooked. LOL!
"your hat's on a little crooked"

Thanks a lot Skip, now I have a cup of coffee that I have to go clean off of my computer screen.
Sorry!
LOL!
If Chesapeake will just drill and complete a good well on my lease, then I plan to get me a hat just like it.......and wear it crooked!
paloma is causing quite a stir in parts of shelby, st. augustine, and sabine counties. from what i have been told they are trying to lease right in the middle of devon and xto acreage, thus forcing bonus money to the up side. does anybody know if there is any affliation between chesapeak and paloma?

Had lease offer yesterday, lease 1,000 acre Ashabranner survey.
Garry that where the Harvey #1H was drilled by CHK. They where dissappointed in results of 3mmcfd IP, but understand they had major problem with completion and about 1200' of lateral was not frac but completed open hole only. Maybe shale in area is still ok since CHK permitted two wells just to the east of site of Harvey. Please tell us who is back in Ashabranner Survey leasing and what was the offer. Did your 1000 acres just expire from prior lease? Hard to believe you had 1,000 acres not leased in Ashabranner when it was hot early 2008. Tell us more and as Paul Harvey would say "the rest of the story"
Yes, thanks J.R. it was Chesapeake.
FYI - there were about 10 leases that CHK filed in the S. Strickland survey nearby just this past week where it looks like the rate was $2K/Acre.

Noticed those while searching lease records at the County Clerks office. The actual lease bonus was not listed, but the leases did have a 2 year option to extend the contract at the end of the 3 year primary term and the option bonus was set at $2K/acre. Lease bonus and option bonus are, in most instances, set at the same rate so I deduct from that info that these leases were settled with CHK at $2k/Acre.
So CHK acted on their 2 year options of extending the leases--- that good news --they would not have extended if they thought the shale was not commerial in the area.
