How often is a "Bore hole lost"?

I just wanted to let any mineral owners of the Wertz-Collie (AW) 1H gas well in Upshur County, TX, know that per RRC completion records the bore hole was lost. Per the completion record, the borehole…Continue

The "mannerly" thing to do?

I could use some advice from the gurus of this group. My family was contacted by a Landman about our royalty interest in a new horizontal gas well being drilled in East Texas. The Landman indicated…Continue

Which acreage determines an NPRI owner's royalty interest?

Apologies for posting on this general Discussion board. My area (Upshur County) does not have it's own group. I inherited an NPRI share in a horizontal gas well being currently drilled. This new well…Continue

"This was a common occurrence in the early days of horizontal drilling but is very rare today. Several should have gotten fired over this one - no reason for this to happen. Operator definitely out a ton of $$$, but if they can get a new lateral…"

"Bore hole lost" in Upshur County, TX.

I just wanted to let any mineral owners of the Wertz-Collie (AW) 1H gas well in Upshur County, TX, know that per RRC completion records the bore hole was lost. Per the completion record, the borehole was so "corkscrewed" that completion equipment could not be placed in the hole. It looks like the company is seeking a permit to move over a couple of hundred feet and redrill the well. This was a 10000+ foot-long lateral. I can't imagine how costly this was to the company or how disappointing to…See More

The "mannerly" thing to do?

I could use some advice from the gurus of this group. My family was contacted by a Landman about our royalty interest in a new horizontal gas well being drilled in East Texas. The Landman indicated that the oil company wanted all of the signatures and paperwork in place, before the drilling started. It took us several months past the well's spud date to review Grammy's probate, hire an attorney, etc. I have sent queries to both the Landman and Operator, asking if we got our legal documents to…See More

Which acreage determines an NPRI owner's royalty interest?

Apologies for posting on this general Discussion board. My area (Upshur County) does not have it's own group. I inherited an NPRI share in a horizontal gas well being currently drilled. This new well involves multiple pooled gas units, gas leases, two major-company operators, allocated lease acres, etc.I do not own acreage, just inherited mineral interests. In short, how is the royalty interest determined once the well starts producing? Is it the length of lateral across the original old…See More
