Thanks James L. Williams,
Your posting was informative. Do you have any information on the thickness of the pay zones in San Augustine and the Patterson survey??? Or the Patterson Survey opposed to the Quirk survey where the Kardell well is located. Are the two surveys similar in pay zones and thickness?
Anyone else who has any information on the comparison of the pay zones and thickness in the two surveys please reply. Does anyone have any information on the seismic findings in the Patterson survey??/
I don't know the answer to your question. Back when KVG #3 was completed there was a question about thickness asked on the Cabot Oil and Gas quarterly earnings call with analysts. The answer given was that the total thickness of the Bossier Shale, the Haynesville Shale, and the Haynesville Lime at KVG #3 was about 1000 ft, but no breakout for the individual formations was given. It was also stated that all three formations had good porosity and were gas charged. KVG #3 was reported to be producing from the Haynesville Shale. Cabot is drilling a Bossier well (King Gas Unit, API 405-30306) near KVG #3, so they must think that the Bossier is productive there. There are productive James Lime and Pettet Lime wells adjacent to KVG #3, but I haven't been able to find pay zone thickness estimates for those formations. Information on Hayneville Shale I have seen is that it is deeper and thicker toward the south. My guess is that it is about 300 ft thick along HW 21. But that is just a guess based on not very specific information.
Here are the producing intervals of KVG #3:

12955' to 13030'
13366' to 13396'
13440' to 13570'

They did not make any distinction as to Bossier, Haynesville or Lime. They did note the top of the Bossier as 12825'.
just adding the Field name for KVG #3=BOSSIERVILLE (BOSSIER SHALE) and compare to Devon's Kardell-which is in the same Field and the completion report shows the top of the Haynesville Lime at 13642' (True vertical depth) and ELEVATION 398 DF, 372 GL (to adjust to subsea depth)
Thanks guys for your responses.
So, in short, do we wait for St Mary's completion to compare the intervals with the Kardell or KVG #3... Or can we obtain the information from seismic testing...Does anyone want to comment on seismic studies. We know from St Mary's web site the vertical seismic is complete. If we obtain the seismic results does anyone know how to interpret them if we can post them on this website?? I think it would be interesting to compare the seismic studies of the KVG #3, Kendall, Cabot's 21mmcf [which apparently is at a top secret location] and the new St Mary permit.
St. Mary... that's what started the discussion.
Your welcome.
j,
We are talking about the JT Pattterson survey in the NE corner of SA county on the Shelby/San Augustine county line. It is about 3 miles directly north of the Kendall well. Where is the other Patterson survey?
A-218 PATTERSON, J is the other Patterson. It's in Chireno North. West of SA on the border.
