Does anyone know what state or local department in Louisiana regulates seismic activity and issues permits for seismic activity? I know several people with issues, but have not found who regulates. I know wildlife & fisheries does this for state owned property, but what about privately owned property?

I got my Veritas check yesterday. Helicopters are droping equipment all around on Sistrunk Loop and there is a lot of it.
I signed and returned my permission letter on 3/5/2010 for S12, T9N, R12W (Progress Church Road just north of Free Road). Received check money on July 24th with letter saying they would be conducting the survey soon. Paid $15 per acre with another $10 per acre for prepaid damages. This part was stated on stub. This part was good as no tax should be paid on damages. Originally, my permission letter came out of Mansfield. This office has closed and check came from Natchitoches.
As of this date, a great big no!
We are in Section 25 and got our letter from them. I contacted Chesapeake to make sure they were the ones who contracted them for seismic and got the go ahead and mailed the letter back. Got a call a couple days later asking which one of us to make the check out to. Haven't received the check yet so I don't know how long it takes after giving them permission for them to get out there and get the seismic done and pay the land owner. Hopefully, they'll be on the up and up about paying.
Waltcop, still signing in this area...I signed in early may for land in 8-4-13 and have received nothing yet.
Jack went to his land and saw holes where they had done the seismick one day and asked neighbor if they were paid yet. Neighbor said yeah a couple months ago. Jack Blake went home and stopped on way home at post office and there was the check in the mail. They are up and up. Just a lot of little checks to mail out Jack thinks.
Thanks Jack!
Ken, is this seismic equipment or well equipment for the 7 alternate wells. Not sure if you can tell but thought I would ask. Our family has 40 acres that is parceled 8 ways. Some of us received permission letters from Cgg Veritas and some did not. I find that odd. Thanks
I'm thinking this is seismic.
Donna, in regards to who they contact, I feel they must work off of the tax rolls. I had a lady in DeSoto Parish tell me that they wanted to give her all the money and let her distribute it to the rest of the family, she refused. She had like 13 acres of a 40 acre tract and there were like 50 other people that owned the tract. The lady paid the taxes because the rest of the family were morons that would have lost the property years ago for not paying taxes.
Yep, your right TD. They do work off the tax rolls. On this particular property on Sistrunk Loop, I pay my own taxes. I had the same situation on a family tract of property on Progress Church Road that has not yet been parceled out to heirs. Taking care of that soon. The property taxes all come to me and I pay and then bill everybody. When I received the entire check from CGG for surveying, I sent them a check when I got their SS#. I know I had to prove I paid them out. At least mine wasn't 50 though. I so see her point!
There are Veritas ribbons on my property and I have also seen one of their trucks on my property. Should I have been contacted and compensated by Veritas ? If so, does anyone have their contact info..... Thanks
