Natural Gas Line Blow Out This Morning

LONGSTREET -- A natural gas line blew out in DeSoto Parish Friday morning. Two workers suffered non-life-threatening injuries, authorities said.

Occupants of five homes near the gas line were evacuated.

The blowout was capped late Friday morning and those evacuated were allowed to return home, DeSoto Sheriff Rodney Arbuckle said.

Arbuckle said the employees worked for Enterprise. One suffered a gash to his hand but details of the other man's injuries were not immediately known, Arbuckle said. They were not life-threatening, Arbuckle said.

The blowout occurred about 9 a.m. west of Longstreet, sheriff's Lt. Toni Morris said.

The blowout occurred off Belle Bower Road. Some of the people living Hogeye and Speights Road were evacuated, Morris said.

CK, it could be a smaller gas gathering line that "feeds" the larger diameter trunkline.

I sure do hope those Enterprise employees are doing okay.  Here's wishing them a speedy recovery from their injuries.
