Sheilia, suggest that you look through the past discussions in the Sabine Parish group with special emphasis on the public record reports from the Sabine Index.  Here is a link to the last one that I posted.

hi sheila,

seems as if you're having trouble getting a straight answer.

so, i did a bit of research for you.

if you want to look at this in more detail, depending on your excel skills, go to the spreadsheet that i used provided by the state of louisiana (look to the right side of the webpage, about half way down on this page):

http://dnr.louisiana.gov/index.cfm?md=pagebuilder&tmp=home&...

from this page, you can click on a spreadsheet (which is what i did), or, a map showing the location of wells and permits.

once you download the spreadsheet, you can sort the data any way that you want.  i sorted for permits or wells in 8-13.  i sorted for township, then range, then section.  this is what i found:

here are the wells currently permitted or drilled or completed in 8-13:

242170 HA RA SUQ;BOISE SOUTHERN 2 HZ
242726 HA RA SU102;SUSTAINABLE F 10HZ
242014 HA RA SU58;EVANS 4-8-13 H
241725 SUSTAINABLE FORESTS 7 HZ
240372 HA RA SUSS;SUSTAINABLE FOR 3HZ
242882 HA RA SU68;SIMMONS 12-8-13 H
242643 HA RA SU69;SIMMONS 13-8-13 H
242857 HA RA SU114;BSMC LA A 17 HZ
242623 SUSTAINABLE FOREST 16 HZ
242489 SUSTAINABLE FORESTS 27 HZ
242936 HA RA SU104;EVANS 34-8-13 H

let me know if you have any other questions.

best, john

hi sheila, one more item worthy of mention.

you said that your land is in sections 12 and 13 of 8-13.

i did notice that there are wells permitted (not yet drilled) in both sections 12 and 13.

on above list, see the two wells called "simmons".  they are in sections 12 and 13, respectively.

the permits were issued to Chesapeake.  it seems odd that Chesapeake would have these permits to drill; and, they have not contacted you for leasing.  perhaps they can't find you.

i'm not an expert...  i guess the next step is to decide if you want to lease your land or stay unleased.

clearly, you could contact Chesapeake if you want to lease your land.

finally, depending on how much land you have, it may be worth it to you to hire an attorney experienced with negotiating leases in the haynesville shale.  i do not know the names of any particular attorneys with that experience.  i would guess there are many in shreveport or natchitoches.

good luck.  john

Sheila,

John B is absolutely correct about getting an attorney to help you, if you are going to lease with CHK.  I'll go even further, and recommend you get an oil and gas attorney with Haynesville experience.  It is well known that CHK pays its mineral owners less for their gas than do the other operators.  With the help of a good attorney, you can protect yourself against this underpayment.  Many, many people who have CHK leases are disappointed everytime their monthly check comes in.

As an aside....  I heard a story about one person at the CHK mineral owners meeting last week.... One mineral owner kept asking why her check was $500/month less than her neighbor's check.  Same section.  Same amount of land.  Both signed the standard lease.  The only difference?  The neighbor leased to HK and the person asking the question leased to CHK.  So,  protect yourself.

Finally...  get a lease.  Do NOT try to go unleased with CHK as your driller.  You'll never see a penny.

Another thing of note, Comstock is drilling from sect. 3 into sect. 10 which would include Noble.
Thanks!  Hired an attorney this morning!
