Anybody have any knowledge about the Smackover Formation in West Central Mississippi?
There is word that land men are seeking out leases in the Lower Delta area of Sharkey and Issaquena Counties. These two counties are approximately 30 miles due West of the old Tinsley Field, lie on the Eastern edge of the Monroe Uplift, and approximately 1/2 way between Delhi, LA and Tinsley, MS.
I haven't been able to come up with much information on the subject and mineral rights owners in the area aren't familiar with land men.
There were some wells drilled in the area in the late 40's and early 50's with most appearing to be plugged according to the State OGB. Looking at the old permits it appears none ever exceeded 4500 feet in depth.
Would be interesting if others familiar with the area would post their findings.
It is Solar Resources in Sharkey and Issaquena - must be the same biggie behind it if you play close attention to the similarities of the entity names. They show up in the Rolling Fork phone book with a physical address the same as a local attorney. In the Secretary of State registry they are listed as a Laurel, MS entiry with a Madison, MS agent that is associated with a company of landmen.
