Skip's post Oil and Gas News Locations & Completions for April 30 lists the following permit for Natchitoches Parish followed by his comment below.  This is potentially very exciting news for the area.

Brammer Engineering Inc, Olympia Minerals, 001, Sec. 16, T8N, R8W, Wildcat, 4850' MD, Eagle Ford Shale.

"And it is permitted as an oil well.  I think there may be some leasing activity associated with this permit.  Natchitoches members should watch this well."

Can anyone elaborate further on the matter at this point, or are we in for yet more suspense?

Thanks for responding. The map was generated from the SONRIS database, right? If so, a typo should not be possible, as no one, literally, typed that in on that map. I assume that the map just populates with the numbers extracted from the database. And, if so, the SONRIS people need to be aware that they got a bug in their software.

The Natchitoches Tax Assessor's web site shows the following owners for Sect 16 T7n R7w:

Timberlands. LLC, Shreveport owns 40 acres

George Gardiner, Jr. owns 40 acres

Gould Investments, Inc. Ringgold, La owns 40 acres

Grigsby Investment Co., Inc. owns 2 forty acre tracts

Natch. Parish School Board owns 400 acres.

Ermadell Tate, et al, 2660 Johnson Chute Rd., Natch., La owns 40 acres

In the Tate property,Betty T. Hopkins donates her interest to others

Don't know if any sold mineral rights.

Anyone know if this is the property in the unit?  What timber company is being mentioned as the owner?

This well in in section 16 of T8N-R8W.  If you can get that info on line please do so.  You posted T7N-R7W.  If that is what you looked up then that is in the wrong township?

Lrb, you will notice the well plat showed only one land owner for the entire section.
10-4 on your original post Les,  I knew you were correct.  I have timber company that owns a major portion of section 20 which is where I am located.  Ole "Rather Not" said they were associated with a company that is "fixing to" start leasing here because I am located in what they called their "focus area".  They sent me this message on my home page and I didn't see it for almost a month.  Never got a in box flag that I had a messege.  Anyway,  I answered them back That Us poor folks down here wanted a good fair and firm first offer with no games being played.  That way they would be the "early bird that gets the worm".  If olympis minerals produces oil with that first test well,  then they are going to have competition which will drive up the lease offers.  what say you?
LrB, I was on a project that was drilled to the Hosston formation back in 2001. The well was in Section 6, T8N-R9W Hoss RA SUF, Wall #1 Ser#226291. There is a well log on this well on Sonris. Maybe Jay could take a look at the log to get a better idea of whats under the ground in your neck of the woods. This well was at Shamrock just North of Robeline.
Was that not the "Christmas well"  that was a gas well?  No I remember now, the christmas well was lots older, I think.
The Christmas well made a lot money for the folks in the unit. The one I worked was a dry hole. The driller told me that he saw water wells produce more gas than that one. There is a good well log down to 8755 feet on Sonris for the well, I leave well logs to the experts like Jay to interpret.

Thanks Two-Dogs,  You be praying for us poor folks up here

Later,

"The Buzz"

Looks like pretty soon I will be working closer to the house.
