Hello Mike.  Mr parents and grandparents are from Spearsville and Bernice  and we have leased land down Grafton Crossing and have received a pre-application notice.  Therefore, I am watching that area too.  A map they sent us show about 7 proposed wells in the Lille area but who knows if that will stay the same.  In fact FYI and for Skp too this is exactly what my letter said:  The lower Smackover Zone, Reservoir A, in the Lille Field, Union Parish, lA is hereby defined as being that oil and gas bearing formation encountered between the measured depths of10,102 feet and 11,094 feet in the L.R.Resources-Manville 13-p10 No. 1 Well, located in Sect. 13, T 21 N, Range 1 West, union Parrish.  The top of the lower Smackowver is further defined as being at a measured depth of 10,185 feet in the Jack L. Phillips-John O. Trimble No. 1 Well, located in Sect.22, Township 22 N, Range 3 West, Union Parrish, la.   Tell me if I'm wrong (Skip)  but it looks like to me in the Lillie field, all landowners within 1280 acres of a well will receive royalties and pay prod. costs.  I don't know but i just hope all of us in the lillie field corney creek area get lucky.

let me add that the map sent along with the letter 7 proposed wells in five different sections. Sections 15, 22, 26, 27, and 34.   This was a Southwestern Lillie Field proposed unit done by W.H. Robbins & Assoc. consulting geologists.

Debra, state regs require a unit applicant to send notices to all mineral interests of public record within the boundaries of the proposed unit And to those adjoining to a distance of 1,000'.  Only those within the unit boundaries will receive royalty from production.  Lessors do not pay production costs. Can you scan and upload the map that shows the seven wells?  They are not depicted on the unit application plat.

I have never been successful in my scanning attempts yet but here's what it shows.  1.  A target in sec 15 that says Crow 1  5010'    2.  a target in sec 22 Phillips Trimble 1  10300'  and in sec 22 Simms Hammock 1  2108'   3.  Sec 26  Rosebottom Hollis 1  11060'.  4.  sec 27  Nomeco 1  3625', and sec 27  Pitts Hollis 1  10520'   5.  sec 34  Kerr-McGee Terral Ind. 1  11000'.   Now, my brother says these are the names of proposed wells in those sections.  It is our belief that the first well is going in section 22, the Phillips Trimble which is  almost right on the line of sec. 22 and close to the corner of 14 and 15.  It states the app is to create a single drilling and prod unit of 1280acres for LS zone a reservoir A, est. rules and regs, to force pool and intergrate all seperately owned tracts, mineral leases & other ints., ect within and with ea unit sharing in unit prod. on a surface acreage basis of participation.  and to consider other matters relating to subject reservoirs ect. 

Then there will be conference Feb 20th at the Courtyard Monroe Airport 4915 Pecanland Mall Dr, in Monroe at 10:30 AM.  This notice was sent to Landowners and interested parties and to Comm. of Conservation, James Welsh, and to Dist. Mgr, office of Consveration, Mr. Jackie duvall.

Debra, the conference on Feb. 20 will not be held unless someone on the interested party list requests it.  Also the wells you list appear to be existing wells with the depth they were drilled to, example Crow 1 5010'.

OK, well thank you Skip.  Boy, did we get that wrong.  Thank goodness for you to answer our questions and set us right.  Now, I am really in the dark about what's gonna happen.  Guess it's gonna be a long wait and see.  Do you think Swn is going for oil OR gas in the Lille field Brown Dense?  Also, are those producing wells or old out  of prod. wells?

We recently leased our properties in T23NR12W. Supposedly, horizontol drilling for oil in Petitt and Haynesville Sands. Would not release the name of the operator at this time. Any ideas?

Sounds suspicious.  The Petitt and Haynesville Sands would appear to be unlikely targets for horizontal drilling.  They are conventional reservoirs with sufficient permeability to be produced with much less expensive vertical wells.
