Haven't been following, but will now.  Some of the language is either intentially impossible to meet, or shows a lack of understanding by the bill author(s)

It is the concensus of the small operators that I have spoken to that this will have the effect of severly crippling our industry.

Its like using a grenade to kill a roach

How about a link, guys?

This is my personal favorite section

"C. Unless rebutted by one of the five defenses established under Subsection D of this Section, it shall be presumed that a well operator is responsible for the pollution of a water supply that is within two thousand five hundred feet of the oil or gas well, where the pollution occurred within six months after the completion of drilling or alteration of the well."

Thanks, dbob.

why not make the State of Louisiana guardian/curator for all nit-wits, half-wits, dim-wits, those who didn't need thaT "fancy larnin'" and those just plain dumb?  This bill sounds like it was formulated by one of those mentioned!!

Jack Montoucet,

From Crowley, LA...

Alligator Farmer...

State Demo Rep...

Could this "Minerals/Mining/Louisiana Land Owners Protection Act be an attempt for South LA Politicians to put the "kibosh" on On-shore Drilling... Especially intended to squelch the North LA Boon in favor of South LA "interests?????"

I see Protections per LA Land Owners/Water/Surface Rights/etc.  But this is garbage. IMO.

Like wrappin' up your hunting dog in duck tape...And sayin'...Come on boy "let's go hunt."

Idiots.

This is prob only the first of these bills we will see across the US. People are scared of fracking and this is an election year.  Lots of crazy bills get proposed in election season that no one thinks have a chance of getting passed.  Hopefully, this is one of them in LA.  But, if it passes here it will fly through state legislatures across the country and that's not good news.

.

This is all being driven by Fear of Fracking. Which can only be countered with good science and better PR than what has been happening. This is why I always preach Public Relations.  The Gasland movie did a lot of damage and many professionals laughed it off.  That image of water faucets on fire has stuck in the public's mind (and YES, I know that it's from natural methane in the earth, not the fracking but the general public does not understand)
