I've gotten a little selfish lately, I'm glad to see all these states getting tough on fracking, makes Louisiana more attractive for drilling is the way I look at it.

Someone forgot to tell that to the landowner I spoke with last week.  He stated he's being offered next to nothing in bonus due to the glut and depressed prices and all.

In 2010 Whiting, in N Dakota and Montana, was offering 18%, 20% tops. Most ranchers with more acreage than local Louisiana citizen landowners inked for 300 bucks, top 400 buck bonus. A good many of those people are very happy they did. Aubrey and his craziness leads some folks to think a bonus should be sky high because of what happened here a number of years back. Now, in proven plays, bonuses never go above the 2-3000 range. There is not depressed pricing in oil. There is simply sanity returning to the business. The landowner offered "next to nothing" needs to get you to form Sesport Drilling and Exploration and do him right. How would that work out, chere?

Agreed, the companies raised the bar.  So, with the depressed prices, glut in storage, keener interest in ngl"s, do you expect a return rush to the area in light of the Illinois legislation? Can you offer an explanation as to why this legislation was drafted in cooperation if it will only drive the companies from the area? 

And do you have anything to offer other than personal attacks?

The landowner went further to explain that he is just trying to get leased and has no intention of holding out for bonus.  Still, he's getting no interest or response.

I asked the question a few years ago about fracking a well more than once.  I was told that a well is fracked only one time.  I started watching the movie Gasland and in the movie they said wells can be fracked up to 10 times.  I wonder where they got their information.  I do want to say I don't believe all the negativity on fracking that was in this movie.

If I am reading this right, in one provocative post the landowner was offered next to nothing as far as bonus, then in the response the landowner has no intention of "holding out" for a bonus as the gomer has yet to be approached? All of this to prove some oblique point about some Illinois legislation and some connection to "depressed pricing'' and ng glut with keener interest in ngl.

Okay. Well, it would not matter if prices were sky high along with cotton, and your Mommie was good looking. If there is no interest in the location, there is no interest. Tell gomer to wait for an approach.

olddog's comment holds out hope that Illinois' legislation will encourage drillers to return to our area.

I will relay your thoughts to gomer.  We will both get a chuckle out of that one.  Do you anticipate that Chesapeake will approach anyone here anytime soon? Anything to say about the legislation, drafted in cooperation, that those in OK think will serve as a model for other states?
