Michael many wells in Richland Parish are less that 5000 feet and come in at 1 BOPD. If  I had property in that area I would want a vertical cut off from the surface to 5000 feet just in case the Brown Dense could be productive in the area.

I would advise to wait and see what the wells recently drilled in that area do before making a decision. Also be wary of any attempt to add renewal clauses that double or extend your lease beyond the traditional 3 years. Most especially those for 3/3 or 4/4. Very strong indicator of flippers and investors hedging on the hope of what the future will bring them. This area has shown potential for a couple of deep formations to be productive as well as the shallower ones mentioned by TDP.

Michael Whitmar is after the Brown Dense so they want be giving you a 5000 feet cut off.

TDP, Is Michael Whitmar a leasing co. or an E&P?

Tony there should be a comma between Michael and Whitmar. Whitmar Exploration  is a shale player in many of the plays across the country they are JV partners with some big boys like Exxon/XTO and Encanna. They are a ligit company just google them. On their web page look under News Current operations and they claim to have 50,000 acres under lease in the Louisiana Brown Dense. Back in July there was a discussion where they were talked about here on GHS under "Anyone ever heard of Western Energy" in the Brown Dense forums.

Thanks, TDP !

Western is out of California.  Are they currently leasing?  I heard they bought some leases around a year ago in West Carroll and East Carroll Parish.  What is the latest on this company?

Does anyone know anything about a well in S24T18NR8E??

Walter, no current well permits in that section.  All prior wells were plugged & abandoned.

Thanks Skip.

You're welcome, Walter.

Skip, There is a sign on the side of the HWY that says Woodson#6.  Signs of drilling equipment but has been taken west off the Hwy.  Nothing is visible from Hwy.  A pipeline laid in 2011 crosses the Hwy at that spot.  This area is close to the Bouef River and sometimes referred to as old river.
