I appreciate being able to access the valuable/resourceful information on this site when I'm in doubt . So I would like to give back by sharing some assistance with Navigating the Texas Railroad Commission Site.

Here is a Website for the Texas Railroad Commission

You may have to type this site in your browser and save it in your favorites or desk top
http://www.rrc.state.tx.us/forms/maps/ogdivisionmap.php

I would like to share these simple steps in navigating through the site

Here is an explanation of the abbreviations I used

L=Left
R=Right

After entering the site
Move your mouse over to Data and Statistics on your (L)
A drop box opens on your (R)

Click on the Online Research (Query)
Or
Click on the Open Records

The Online Research (Query) -Gives detailed information and location coordinates for oil wells, gas wells, and pipelines. Click on the Public GIS Map Viewer for Oil, Gas and Pipeline Data.
Then click on the RRC’s Public GIS Map Viewer it will give you a map and scroll down on the(R) and select the county and the wellbore information is helpful but not needed.

The Open Records- Allow you to search for Oil and Gas Well Records it can be searched by key fields or full text and include applications to drill, oil and gas completion reports, plugging reports, producer's transportation authority and miscellaneous records from 1981 to present.

For Oil and Gas record search –Be sure to use the Full Text and Enter your Last Name and Click Submit

This is an excellent resource once you able to navigate it. I hope this is useful for others as it has been for me.

I'll second that,

AR could learn a thing or too from SONRIS as well,
I don't know about Sonris but the TRCC site is not very user friendly. You almost have to already know what you are looking for to find anything. It takes a lot of experience to get anything out of it.
Jay:

Maybe they should have just left it in DOS? LMAO!

How about taking the PC out of it entirely and having to interface with it via 'dumb terminal' format a la VT52/VT100 like you had to with the old LOC system?!

AGHH!!! Sentences... starting to... sep.. a.. rate... Help...
Shale Geo, Thank you for all your time and effort. I have one problem on sonris intergrated.
I can pull up the map and S/T/R and get my ref. layers, lcl roads etc. I am next to Red River off
E. Kings. Hwy south of LSU. On the map by the river the section lines don't show up. It
is all white. Is there any way I can find the sections lines? Have well north and now due east
across the river and would like to know exactly where the sections start and end. Thanks!
Any thoughts on well #238527 Petrohawk and across river #239245 JW Petro (I agree with
you on it does make a diff. who is drilling and where they get their bits/rigs.
TRRC is easier to use for pulling production history by county, field, operator, etc. Both Sonris and TRRC sites are far better than any other states' website.
