We live on Sumner and signed months ago for peanuts... before word of the elm grove find was publicized I assume. As a former salesman of oil and gas drilling bits (Hughes Tool Co. -- now known as Baker-Hughes, I think), I spent many hours on rigs in LA, Texas and Arkansas recording drilling depths/rates, etc., and I like others thought this whole area was "drilled up". My father worked the sligo fields within the fence of Barksdale for 34 years, and they had all but shut down the wells for lack of production before he retired in '87. Well, just goes to show you what new technology can do with the horizontal drilling and such. As for right now, I'd have to search my house to even find a copy of my lease agreement to see when it expires. Im at the point now of debating whether to let it expire or hire a lawyer to get it renegotiated. Best of luck to those who havent signed yet. -Slowpoke

I still consider all of us blessed just given the fact that we are in this play. Many that I have spoken to personally in our area signed months back, some like my family were a little to busy at the time to really look at what was being offered back in Oct 07 - Feb 08.

Mom of 3, any update on the fliers? I'm sure you have been extremely busy and appreciate all of your families' efforts and sacrifices.

Any word from Provost?

I am currently working on a letter to distribute in Shadow Ridge. I believe that there are several people that live in the subdivision that are not aware that they might own their mineral rights. Hopefully that will increase our numbers.

Would you mind if we attended the meeting August 5?

Anyone can attend this meeting.

I called Mr. Provost and he said they have 300 acres pulled together and are already in negotiations with 4 companies. He said they would love to have our group join theirs. I just hope they don't sign before our meeting. He said if they don't sign by our meeting then he would try to attend. He said he would call me if they get an offer they like to see if we want in on it.

I put out the fliers in the Orchard on Tuesday. Someone that I am in contact with is putting out fliers in Lucky Estates. We may need help with fliers in areas down Sligo.

We need to get everyone's info as soon as we can so we can see what we are dealing with. I think we have about 50 acres pulled together so far with more to come.

We got our flier today! Yay!

We also got an offer from Twin Cities. First of all it said we only had .75 acres, when we actually have 1.02 acres, and it was for $5500 an acre and 1/4 royalties.

I heard today that folks in Caddo Parish were given the permission to acquire royalties based on road-ways within their neighborhoods. Based on my research it appears that if a roadway (Caddo only thus far) runs along your property in a neighborhood then the minerals under the roadway is split evenly down the center and distributed accordingly between both sides of the street.

Considering we have over 200 ft of roadway in front of our house I hope this happens in our area (Bossier Parish) as well, as do most in our area.

Do we know how many acres we have in the Orchard (or our section) together yet? What other sections are we coming together with or joined our effort? We are close to the end of Sumner and haven't seen the final flier regarding the meeting reach our doorstep yet. I've got the original soft copy, were their any changes other than the addition of the meeting date and time?

Since you typed the flyer for us, Mom of 3 and I didn't put one one your mailbox. I guess we figured you didn't need the info. The date is August 5th at 6:00 at South Bossier Baptist. What do you think about having someone from one or more of the O&G companies there to give us some information???
I talked to a lady on Hope Street (just a little south down Barksdale Blvd. on the right side of the street) she doesn't think anyone on her street has even been contacted yet. I am going tomorrow to put flyers out there.

Just a reminder...our meeting is tomorrow at South Bossier Baptist Church (on Sligo), Tues Aug 5 at 6:00pm. Anyone is welcome to come. We will have an ex-landman with over 30 years experience there to answer any of our questions. Hope to see you there!
