Has anyone been contacted that lives in this area? It seems everyone around us has been contacted by an Oil and Gas Company, but my neighbors and myself have not been.

Read the information I posted regarding Chesapeake Louisiana, L.P. to gain information on treatment of prior lessees; If you have lived in the section for years as my family has for over 20 years, most neighbors even longer, I am unsure why they have not contacted you in the past years. They have been leasing mineral rights in the area for over 4 years, possible 10+ years.

I do know parties are being offered between 12-18,000 per acre at current. I am unsure the companies offering this amount but over 8 neighbors have informed me of this. Be careful to your agreement and insure you receive a nice percentage of royalties, I have a jokingly 1/6th. Currently it's up to .20-.25% for this Section. We got ripped so many of your neighbors too.

In researching the decades-old Tuscaloosa Trend and the immense wealth it has generated for many, I find it deeply troubling that this resource-rich formation runs directly beneath one of the poorest communities in North Baton Rouge—near Southern University, Louisiana—yet neither the university ( that I am aware of)  nor local residents appear to have received any compensation for the minerals extracted from their land.
