These are prices I know of for North Natchitoches Parish (Powhatten Area)

2 years ago, 100.00 to 250.00 an acre.

3 months ago, 500.00 to 1000.00 an acre

1 month ago, 1500.00 to 2000.00 an acre

Today?????? It should be going up a lot. I havent heard anything since all the good news that is going on in Natchitoches parish

bigball, well its a good sign things are going UP and not DOWN ;-)...any good news you'd like to share would be appreciated..it seems things that are going on in our parish are kept pretty quiet atleast to those who don't live there presently.

Rob, i'm unfamilar with the locations in proximity. My property is in the 12-12-6 range (Goldonna Area). If this is near you then i'd participate for sure..

Natch - I'm in 18-10-10. Don't know that we are close enough for a reasonable pool to encompass us both. I'm talking with others in 18-10-10 to gauge interest. Nothing significant so far, but I've met some very interesting people I've been meaning to contact for years, so the time is well spent, even if nothing O&G-related results.

Any word on the seismic on your property?

There was a shoot on my property in Section 8 by Exxon in 1985. I've been told I had a right to a copy, but I was too uninformed at the time, so I assume the opportunity has passed.

Will you get to the results of the seismic on your property?

Our group is in the Ajax-Beulah area. An attorney is presently mailing out agreement forms. Everyone with property in T 10, R 10 may join until those forms are received back. I can be reached at 225-924-5442 or cell 318-230-3369 through Wednesday 2nd and 318-472-5281 after that.

Bob, Thank you for your kind reply. I followed up with a phone call and obtained contact information the the man representing the group. I'll contact him Monday morning and will, most likely, join. It's the only sensible thing to do. I will also send an e-mail to the person I contacted and ask that it be forwarded to you so that we can connect electronically and compare notes. I've done a great deal of research this weekend using SONRIS and another resources on the Internet (I'm an IT professional raised in the oil-patch.) which I will be happy to share with the group once I'm in. I look forward to meeting you by phone or e-mail. Until then, I wish you safe travel!

You can log on to the SONRIS (La. Dept. of Nat. Resources) website and you will be able to find a section on maps and you can print one off. It will show townships by number...

I have not been contacted either. I live between Robeline and Marthaville
on Hwy 120. (Goat Hill). I've heard we're on the edge as well...but I'm optomistic that we will be included. I base that on the fact that there has been some drilling done in this area in the recent past. Some have hit ,some have not. I was actually in a unit last year (Holland #1). They didn't go all the way down to the HS however, they did hit gas in 5 zones. According to them, it wasn't enough to pay off - so they abondoned it. I believe this is a similar situation as the recent Messenger well (Encana). It too was previously drilled in 1985 but wasn't enough to produce (they didn't drill deep enough either). As of Wednesday, Encana is rumored to have made a good well 200 yds. away. I don't believe anyone has ever drilled down to the HS in our area. I know the Eugene Christmas well is still flowing gas since 1982 and it is 3 mi. or so SSE of me. We're praying about it often - you do the same.

just ran across this on a topix site today..it was posted on June 26

The meeting at the Natchitoches Event Center had standing room only. Brian Hanks, an attorney and landman, is optimistic that the leases are coming to Natchitoches Parish. He says the Haynesville shale is down there. The results from the wells as they drill nearer us will greatly influence their interest in our area. He talked more about the thickness of the Haynesville Shale determining the price. He did not mention the depth in our area. Don Briggs, President of La Oil & Gas Assoc., said Chesapeake is planning 500 square miles of seismic tests but did not say where. Typical prices are $5 to $25 per acre for seismic testing. He said watch the web site ww.laoga.la. They will be adding a lot of info to it such as sample lease agreement, etc.
