El Paso has posted an excellent presentation on their website regarding their Haynesville Shale activity. Please note the production rates shown on Slide 15 are initial 30 day average rates.

Very interesting presentation Les! Thanks once again!
Les, my family has property in and around the Ashland area. In the El Paso presentation it shows in slide 12 that I'm in the prospective area but when you go to slide 13 it shows at the bottom how the shale dips down really deep in Natchitoches parish. I was wondering if I was interpreting this correctly in that as you move upward in the parish that it goes to the east towards Readhimer area? I notice that Chk maps also show this. Am I reading this correctly?
Diane, I think you are making a correct interpretation of the El Paso map but the lackof depth information does not give an indication of how deep the Haynesville Shale would be in your area.

The Chesapeake map does not indicate specifically the basis for their Eastern boundary.
There are two areas on pg 12 that indicate thickness of 300'. Why is there such a sharp line on the area to the east. Is this because it is beyond their study or area of interest? I can't believe the shale would just stop. Also, if the thickness is 300' in the east, does that make this area more valuable?
Landowner, the shale would eventually stop but the boundary may be related to depth (too deep) rather than the shale edge.

Thickness alone does not create more value for shale formations. Other factors such porosity, clay content, pressure, etc are also very important.
Les, Is there any information to tell you the depth of an area?
Landowner, I have not seen a good depth map for the Haynesville Shale. There has just been statements and some well data that indicates the HS gets deeper to the South but nothing about the East.
Thanks Les, I really appreciate your information
