Negotiations with a practically unknown company

A couple weeks ago a landman contacted me about negotiating a lease with M L Benedum, LLC, who is very interested in doing business in Desota Parish; after talking with the company reps, I was impressed with the ease at which our negotiations have gone but I am concern that they are a little known untested oil production company with, to my knowledge, absolutely no track record. Has anyone done business with this company? If so, what is your impression? Who has even heard of them? What are the pros and cons of doing business with such a company?

So this company is a mining company. I resarched this company and have not found much information on them.
