I have a question. In doing research on Shell. Several hits came involving lawsuits about mis-calculations of royalties to landowners, individual and governments.
So my question is this: when we start getting royalties, how do we know they are paying us the right amount? I am sure they will send some kind of accounting with the check, but how do we know if the amount, calculation is right, complete, etc?
I realize some of you have complex 'new' leases with all that written into it, and reporting and well logs etc. For those of us that don't will we need a forensic mathematician to determine if they are paying us right?
