I'm new to the the site and from what I can gather all the gas companies and/or investors are not only looking for the shale, but its depth and thickness. What other factors do they consider? What about proximity to gas pipelines? Old wells that have been capped? Just curious...we have some family land in eastern Natchitoches parish, not sure if it's better to have some contact the gas companies for us or to contact them directly ourself. I know for a fact that everyone wants a piece of your pie. That's a fact.

Also, when pooling land, is it better to have pools of complete sections (640 acres) or larger tracts i.e. 2000, 4000, 5000 acres?

Any suggestions would be great.
