I was aware that Matador sold a 1/2 interest in some of their acreage just north of the Longwood Field in the Blanchard area to Goodrich Petroleum. However, I was very much surprised by a move Matador made in Northwest Red River Parish.
Matador permitted and began drilling a vertical Haynesville well called the Blount Farms well in T14N/R12W, Section 2. I was watching the progress of the well because I own some minerals not far away, and Questar was drilling a Haynesville well in the adjoining section (Section 1). I had not checked the well's progress in a little while. When I looked up it's progress on Sonris this weekend, Matador was no longer the operator, Chesapeake was!
Does anyone know what the relationship between Matador and Chesapeake is? I've seen so public announcement about an acquisition or anything like that. Is there anyone out there that can help me? It will be interesting to see if Chesapeake kicks the well off into a horizontal well. I think the pipe size is suficient to do it.

This area has suffered immense environmental degradation…
