There are some new WildHorse wells in Lincoln Parish LCV that I have been watching in sonris. I do not understand why the status indicates the wells having been potentialed in January/February/March, but there are no test results posted. Specific examples: LA serial number 245382, potentialed before 3/13/2013 report date, total depth hit on 1/15/2013. Also LA serial number 245550, potentialed 1/29/13 via report date 2/6/2013.
I use a Macintosh computer and the sonris lite pages. I have been unable to get the standard reports or the reports-on-demand to work with my system. Do you think the well tests information is available on those report systems before it gets to sonris lite?
This site is a great source of information, I appreciate seeing some of the exchanges that get posted and the effort put in by the knowledgable respondents!

Not only is reporting slow, but often reports will be "changed" from the original submissions. And from what I've seen over time, some filings can contain false or misleading information. However, it's not like any of this is a big surprise here in the Banana Republic.
The SONRIS staff enters data as it is received from the district offices. It's likely that Wildhorse has not as yet turned in their allowable and final completion reports. The staff can't post what they do not have. From personal experience with the District 6 office, there is no lead time problem on their end. And there hasn't been one in the recent past for the database staff in Baton Rouge. However the staff was short handed and has now undergone further budget cuts and staff reductions. You can call District 6 about the allowable reports if you like. I have had some success in the past reminding them that certain wells are past due for reports. I can't state what exactly happened but the reports would show up shortly thereafter. I would speculate that someone, probably the District 6 inspector for that area, contacted the operator and reminded them that their reports were over due.
Great information. Now if only I knew a shortcut to find how to contact the District 6 office I would call and ask about those wells. I found three district offices on the department of natural resources web page under the conservation heading. But I cannot find any office titled "District 6" on the dnr.louisiana.gov web site. So, Skip, if you can provide a hint as to how to contact them, I will do so. THANKS!
District 6 is Shreveport. 318-676-7585. Have all pertinent information handy. And be aware that you may not get an answer without a little wait to allow them to perform some research and contact the proper staff member or operator.
FANTASTIC!! Thank you for the advice and phone number! You have been really helpful.
You're welcome. Please have patience and keep in mind that they are short staffed. But then again almost all, if not all by now, state agencies are under staffed and pressed to deliver the services they are tasked to provide. Less than a year ago I walked into the State Revenue Department office in the same building and found one person on duty. It wasn't lunch time. And as I waited my turn I noticed a sign stating that they are only open two days a week. We tend not to think about what has happened in state government until we need something that is reasonable for a citizen and tax payer to expect. It's easy to complain about too many state workers until we need them and find that there is no fat left to cut. The cuts are now affecting the most basic of services.
Shale drilling and lithium extraction are seemingly distinct activities, but there is a growing connection between the two as the world moves towards cleaner energy solutions. While shale drilling primarily targets…

AboutAs exciting as this is, we know that we have a responsibility to do this thing correctly. After all, we want the farm to remain a place where the family can gather for another 80 years and beyond. This site was born out of these desires. Before we started this site, googling "shale' brought up little information. Certainly nothing that was useful as we negotiated a lease. Read More |
