5 of them are for sure.
what does laying down mean, stacking?
LI, I would anticipate most of the laydowns to be in the Barnett Shale, Fayetteville Shale & Granite Wash. They really can't afford to laydown many rigs in the Haynesville Shale without losing a bunch of acreage.
Les I respect your opinion but the Barnett, Granite Wash and Eagle Ford (and Bakken) have all been mentioned as horizontal oil plays and several companies (EOG) are repositioning rigs to take advantage of the high oil prices. They are not stacking them or laying them down. They are moving them to these areas. I don't know if any are coming out of the Haynesville. Chesapeake acquired a bunch of rigs a few years back, so they are probably coming from elsewhere.
JG, Chesapeake doesn't have a position in "oily" part of the Barnett Shale - only the dry gas area. EOG has a near monopoly on the acreage in the shallow oil window of the Barnett Shale. Granite Wash is a gas play with some parts having high condensate yields but not sure if Chesapeake is in the drier or wetter part of the Granite Wash. You noticed I didn't touch the Eagle Ford Shale.
