It would appear that withdrawal season has finally ended and injection season has begun.
Working gas in storage was 1,343 Bcf as of Friday, April 27, 2018, according to EIA estimates. This represents a net increase of 62 Bcf from the previous week. Stocks were 903 Bcf less than last year at this time and 534 Bcf below the five-year average of 1,877 Bcf. At 1,343 Bcf, total working gas is within the five-year historical range.
A footnote here: net injection into storage began 2-3 weeks later than usual. Injection season is usually considered to begin about April 1, with base minimum points usually occurring around the first week in April each year give or take a week (though as early as mid-March, in some cases). This is as late as such a minimum has occurred in quite some time; it has likely been delayed given persistently cooler weather in the Northeast and along the northern border into early Spring. Graphically this can be seen in that the low point in the blue line appears "pushed to the right" compared to five year range and average plots.
