Did anyone else hear the newscast this morning on KTAL that Exxon is purchasing Chesapeake?

I will check the KTAL website and see if I can find the transcript and post it here.

I heard that on KTAL and immediately began looking for news about it but so far, I have not found anything on Google, Exxon or CHK. Just the report on KTAL and NOTHING about it on their web site.
I've have been looking on those same websites and cannot find anythiing either. I'm glad that someone else heard the news report. I think that the reporter also stated that some execs were meeting today with Governor Jindal about it but I am not sure. Did you hear that part?
Yes. That was the report. And that they are opening an office in Shreveport. I sent an email to KTAL TV asking for the source of the report and for them to elaborate on the details.
I went and put a call into them, they are going to call me back
Chesapeake response - "Thanks. We don't comment on market rumors. Jim." That's from Jim Gipson, Director of Media Relations.
Reuter's is reporting that BP is the one making a bid for Chesapeake.

BP jumps; traders cite talk of bid for Chesapeake

I hate rumors. I just want the FACTS !
You can always find SOME truth in rumors. The speculation or rumor that Chesapeake was ripe for the picking started at the end of 2008.
I know that rumors have been floating around for some time. When the local TV station REPORTS this as a "news story" then it moves into a different catagory. One assumes that the local TV news station has some source for their reporting other than "rumor". But...maybe not.

Market rumors persist about Chesapeake takeover
Do you have a link to the Reuters Information? Can't find it.
Paul,
Type this into Google and you will find the story from several different financial news places:

I called KTAL and spoke with Billy who said that the report did air and that KTAL has received a lot of telephone calls this morning about the story. He also said that he is checking their source of information to make sure it was accurate.
