Don't know about ALL fields, but Woodardville and Alabama Bend were "communities" long before oil and gas came into the picture. It would appear that the field is named after the nearest "community" listed on a map(such as "Elm Grove"). Each field has boundaries(not sure how these are determined) that sometimes butt up against each other. Hope this helps..........
SG, examples being Black Lake, Bracky Branch, Carroll Creek, Caddo Pine Island, etc.
Why thank you very much, this helps me. I have learned alot from this site.
Why not use the fields already named?
Let the geologists and operators name the new fields.
