Forest Oil Corp. holds 106,000 net acres in the Haynesville/Bossier

HOUSTON, Feb. 17 -- Forest Oil Corp. holds 106,000 net acres in the Haynesville/Bossier play in East Texas and North Louisiana and plans to run two rigs to drill 10-12 shale wells and 2-3 nonoperated wells in 2009.

The company's turned to sales its first horizontal completion, Moseley 14-1H, in Red River Parish, La., at 14 MMcfed with 6,500 psi flowing casing pressure while still cleaning up frac fluid. Forest has 100% working interest in the well and holds 3,800 net acres nearby.

The company's 2008 program of 14 vertical wells enabled it to identify the most prospective areas to drill horizontally. Forest plans to evaluate different well designs and stimulation treatments to reduce costs and improve completions
