Okay Keith.  The toll roads I am familiar with no longer have toll booths with available humans to interact with. With or without a toll tag, the bill will find one at the address of record. Writing a letter to the governor or legislator is as effective, for this matter or any number of other problems. Nothing will happen of consequence, though the taxes will be paid by the writer.  The individual (ms. mccullin) is assigned to present a human face on the corporate personhood of her employer. Certainly, human responses are expected.  As responsive and pleasant as the young woman is, many have had unpleasant experiences with the entity represented. Perhaps a true public expression of outrage will be noted by this true human hired by the corporate person. Who knows, it could be as effective as writing a letter to a public "servant." Just my thought.

Glenn:

A beaucoup of GHS members are angry at Chesapeake, and they're mad (as you well know) because of the double-dealing (some might call crooked) shenanigans coming out of the home office.

And rightly so.

Most on here get it.

In others words, when an operator is basically stealing money (lots and lots of money) from hard-working do-the-right-thing small and large landowners/farmers etc., then the blood easily boils.

So yes, we really do get it.  Many have lost too much money and are fighting mad.  Lying, cheating, thievery per a greedy corporate entity makes one's temper shoot through the roof.

Nevertheless, being a kid who grew up in Louisiana and who's lengthy bloodline goes way, way back (in La. and TX) -- being as both my parents came from farming families and being as I was raised in the country with those same values -- I was taught early on that proper manners, integrity, honesty, and a respect for others is important to living in a civil society.

Now, it's also true that some GHS members have no "big" issues with CHK (for some reason).  And that's their right, too.  As my dad used to say out in the country:  "That's not our business."

Plus, look at the flip side.  For a good bit of time, there were numerous GHS members who absolutely were getting no help with their CHK problems.  Then Katie signed up as a member and offered to help in her capacity as a CHK PR liaison.  And, as best as I understand it, she was able to quickly correct a slew of problems that were somewhat fixable via her level of access to the corporate office, etc.

Indeed, she really can cut the red tape and get a problem fixed ASAP (at least some of the time).

Plus, as I also understand it, Katie is from Caddo Parish, too, i.e., she's from Louisiana and seems to honestly care about people.

In other words, look how frustrated and angry a number of GHS members would be if they couldn't at least get their "fixable" CHK issues corrected.  Think about it.

And no, just because some of us have come to appreciate Katie's effort and well-mannered responses and seemingly genuine helpful attitude . . . that does not mean the CHK corporate shenanigans aren't out-and-out thievery and that we want to cut the home office any slack.

No.  Many GHS want to sue and want to join class-action suits to have the courts make CHK pay for their injustices, including me since there might have been some colluding via lease price fixing in my family's tract of land.

Conversely, even though my family and many I know have been basically cheated by CHK (if there was colluding on leasing) -- I can still respect Katie for the good work she's done under bad circumstances.  Also, I hope she continues her good deeds because if any operator needs to correct some glaring mistakes, it's CHK.

Bloodlines? Manners? Lawsuits? Thievery? Collusion? Local from Caddo? I am sorry for overlooking the nuanced protocol. Sounds like double bind.

Very well stated GD.
