got a division order from Exco on my well. I am leased to petrohawk and have gotten payments from them on the production, will I be paid by Exco also?

Astrofan, it is likely you will only be paid royalties by one of those companies. Petrohawk (BHP) has primary responsibility for paying you royalty but can contract with the operator Exco to pay you royalties on their behalf.
Some people have a joint lease agreement with EnCana & Shell and receive separate royalty payments from each company.
thanks Les for the reply, was thinking maybe Exco may have drilled from another site into my section the division orders gave a different decimal interest number
Astrofan, if you provide the Section-Township-Range we can check the wells in your area.
Astrofan, Chesapeake operates the only Haynesville Shale well drilled in that section/unit. It is possible Exco has acquired your lease agreement from Petrohawk.
Chesapeake, Book 22 #H1 Well, Serial #242621, S22-T13N-R14W, DeSoto Parish, 15144 Mcfd, 22/64" Choke, 7145 psi Flowing Pressure
thanks again petrohawk is on the check payment
Astrofan -
You should have received a royalty check from EXCO by this time (they were mailed in late March). If your lease was originally taken by Mainland, your lease is now owned 60% by Petrohawk and 40% by EXCO/BG. Chesapeake is the operator of the HA RA SUX; Book et al 22-13-14H #1 well. Chesapeake pays the gross revenues attributable to your lease 60% to Petrohawk and 40% to EXCO. Petrohawk and EXCO will separately pay you your royalty share based on the revenues paid by Chesapeake to them.
It can be confusing. In most cases the operator pays royalties for all working interest owners, but here Chesapeake chose not to pay royalties on non-operated working interests.
Should you have further questions, please call EXCO's Royalty Hotline at 888-788-9449.
Hey, thanks for the information jkw3. I found the answer. you are wright about what you said. What is the deal with Chesapeake? I know one thing, if ever I have a chance to sign in the future it WILL NOT BE Chesapeke, they really suck!!!!!!!!!1

AboutAs exciting as this is, we know that we have a responsibility to do this thing correctly. After all, we want the farm to remain a place where the family can gather for another 80 years and beyond. This site was born out of these desires. Before we started this site, googling "shale' brought up little information. Certainly nothing that was useful as we negotiated a lease. Read More |
