seeking shale, i keep up with some of shelby county but not all . with that said many of the deep wells that would be considered shale elsewhere are being classified as cotten valley consolidated which i have determined IMHO to be cotten valley lime. the state web site is 3 months behind but last time i checked there was only 1 H-shale well listed in all of shelby county. its a little concerning because with only one well classified as shale, shelby has been determined to be in the core of the texas side of the shale play. so i ask myself how do they know this when so few true shale wells have been completed in shelby ?

Desperately Seeking Shale,

The Tyler Morning Telegraph runs a weekly East Texas Drilling Report. Falling is the link for June 21.

Drilling:
XTO Energy will drill the Thomas Gas Unit Well No. 8H to 18,000 feet 10.9 miles southwest of Center in the South Stockman (Pettit) Field. It is in the G.W. Hooper Survey, A-281 and may be drilled in the South Stockman (Travis or Cotton Valley Peak) Field or a Wildcat Field .

Cabot Oil & Gas will drill the Kimbro Well No. A1 to 9,500 feet 9.3 miles southwest of Center in the Angie (James Lime) Field in the N. Kimbro Survey, A-405.

Completions:
Enexco completed the Gene Borders Well No. 2-H to 11,649 feet 8.3 miles southwest of Center in the Angie Field. On a 30/64-inch choke the well potentialed 7.691 million cubic feet of gas in the James Lime formation.

# Classic Operating completed the Pickering Lumber Company C Well No. 11 to 8,728 to 8,728 feet 1.5 miles east of Joaquin. On a 28/64-inch choke the well potentialed 2.219 million cubic feet of gas in the Travis Peak.

XTO Energy completed the Hearnsberger Gas Unit Well No. 1 to 12,862 feet 12.8 miles southwest of Center in the Stockman Field. On a 16/64-inch choke the well potentialed 192,000 cubic feet of gas in the Cotton Valley.

Thanks SOR, It looks like those arent Haynesville wells though, they're Travis Peak, James Lime, Cotton Valley.

I've been specifically asked about the Haynesville activity.

I have some royaty interest in the Hearnsberger Gas Unit. Can someone tell me what the 16/64 inch choke means on production and is the 192000 cubic feet of gas potential consided to be a good well.

jack i just looked at this the hearnsberger production the day other and to be honest it looked pretty bad. i know when they drilled it and it took a long time to go into production. i keep trac of it because it shares pipeline with my well. i will double check but the numbers looked bad.

From May 31, 2009 Tyler paper:

NFR Energy completed the Mitchell Trust GU Well No. 1A to 11,550 feet seven miles northwest of Timpson in the North Carthage Field. Gauged on a 20/64-inch choke, the well potentialed 2.123 million cubic feet of gas in the Bossier Shale formation.

Hi LesB, Thanks! I thought that one was .7 MMcf/d, or 720 Mcfd. Am I mistaken?
